I started off with "yeah, its ok, his voice fits Mike better than Chester", then you got into the heavy bridge and I that got me on board! You've got a really good voice and a feel for music, Chris. -
Big Soundgarden fan here... This was sweet, I want a headbanging emoticon for crying out loud! You were able to add that bit of that grit which is just killer, and makes me super jealous The vocals were top notch, mix was stomping, great job! m/

Critique of Progressive Metal vocals

Hahaha! Oh man, at first I was like 'ummm.... am I at the right clip?' I really dug this, can't wait to hear the finished song. I don't have much to add on the singing itself other than I liked what you did, particularly carrying over the 'sway' phrasing from the jazz part into the rock part.- 10 replies

Wow, thanks, KillerKu, for the very extensive review! I agree that Down the Line is more approachable, there is a lot going on in Revenge that might turn people off. Revenge was originally an acoustic song from another band I was in but I always thought it would make a kickin' rock song so I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Challenge? No, I just thought it would be fun to put up another version that is also old I didn't mean to derail or hijack the thread, I can edit my original post if you want?

Since I've posted a couple comments on other peoples threads I suppose I better come clean and allow others to do the same to me These are a couple songs recorded in 2010, enjoy! Revenge - Down the Line - edit - Soundcloud is screwing up direct links for Down the Line, I think this one is working edit 2 - Nope, removed. edit 3 - Now it's working again...

Nice job, Robert! I'll add mine too from a few years ago if that's cool? '>

One of my favorite tunes as well. I would like to hear more articulation, as Robert said, to my ear it sounds too 'open'. Ian Gillan has always been able to get a super strong 'E' sound that's tough to duplicate. Most people I have heard do this song switch out to an open 'A' sound. (Apologies to you and Robert for not using the terms used in Pillars for describing what I am trying to say, I have the program but have not spent as much time with it as I would like.)
