  1. Hi all, I sing semi pro in a number of working rock cover bands. I caught a bad cold last week and was forced to perform on the weekend due to the amount of $ that would have been lost if I did not perform. I thought I would be okay as my voice was not perfect but OK to hit most notes. Anyway I made it through the 3 x 45min sets by the skin of my teeth after blowing my high range out after 6 songs. I woke up on Sunday very hoarse, sore and still sick. Monday the reality of laryngitis hit as I was barely able to talk. I had another show booked for the weekend and knew in my heart there is no way I would have time to bounce back, I have never had a case of laryngitis so bad. I had to cancel the show and have copped a lot of flack from the agent + band. They simply don't understand. I feel terrible at the moment, like I have let a lot of people down. What was the alternative? Do the show and break down a couple songs in if not almost immediately? I'm sure the only people who truly understand my situation are here. Has anyone suffered similar experiences? If so how did you go about dealing with people ignorant of the predicament?
