TMV World Legacy Member Ernest Whaley Posted March 10, 2009 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 10, 2009 I just joined TMV and thought, since I would like to get a CD made this year, that I would ask for feedback on my voice as it is now, and what I might do to get a better sound inside of a month or two. Not that I would stop after that time period, but I have been sitting almost 5 hours of material for too long without recording any of it outside of my home studio. I have some on my homepage here at TMV, and more at http://www.myspace.com/ernestwhaley Ernest's FaceBook Music Page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ernest-Whaley/30223486940 Any suggestions you could send my way would be GREATLY appreciated. TMV World Legacy Member raymond c miller Posted March 10, 2009 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted March 10, 2009 I like much of what I hear in your voice and your songs and would like to hear more --especially in person without the mike. Better voice quality and handling of a song than I hear from many of today's "singers". I like what you do.......musiker

TMV World Legacy Member vamacoustics Posted May 14, 2009 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted May 14, 2009 Ernest, I listened to "Children", little pitch issue in a few spots not many...Its difficult to really give you a full review of your voice because I do not know you and have never seen you perform..You are ready for the stage as is and I am sure can entertain...however; I hear a bit of dicomfort and that just maybe becuase you are not used to hearing yourself so close while singing...If you were reading lyrics during the recording without really knowing them all that well could be a problem too. Just keep playing out...more experience and constant self critique will help you to get better. "Lets Go Down to Memphis" is a live band recording? That one you are more comfortable; but the range is too high for you the way you are singing it...its col that you hit the notes for the most part; but you could do better; You are sounding a bit chesty; with a little diaphram action from time to time...when you giggle in the song; that is a lower tone that you should attempt to go after...I would love to hear you sing this song in a lower register heavy belly soul sound...You need to dig deeper and bring out your bad ass self... "return to Sender" by elvis presley is a good tune to listen to and hear what I mean. This song sounds like you are straining too much in parts......
