Releasing throat tension

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

I have been placing my hands on my throat and on top of my diaphragm at the same time and have found out that a lot of tension is gone. No breaking, more resonance, better relaxed richer tone. Everything is good, no problems with that. But when we perform, I am sure that our hands should not hold our throat haha. That would just look weird. What is another thing I can do to trick the brain to not add unnecessary tension to the voice?

Just go back and forth between singing with your hands on your throat and no hands and see if you can do the same.

I sometimes have other people's hands on my throat but that's cause they want me to stop singing...

First you need to indentify (or have a teacher) identify the tension...is it the jaw, the tongue, the face?

Just grabbing your throat doesn't cut it and what are you feeling for on the top of your diaphragm?  You cannot feel your diaphragm.
