My friend (who wish's to not be named out of embarrassment lol)

Showed me something she discovered when she was younger howling like a wolf.

here is the example

there is some kind of register change or something you can hear clearly

what exactly is going on here ?

she is also a singer and would like to know what is going on with her voice here

is it jumping into "head voice" "female falsetto" some form of a Yodel ?

sorry in advance for the weird question lol

Chavie: This is a sudden transition from mid voice registration to light high voice registration, and back, with no attempt to maintain consistency of phonation. These are characteristics of a yodel.

Agreed... this is a bad yodel.... which is , generally speaking, characterized by an intentionally singing an extended note which rapidly and repeatedly changes in pitch from the vocal or chest register (or "chest voice") to the falsetto/head register; making a high-low-high-low sound. Yodeling is turing vocal breaks into an art form.... i think you have to wear funny curly toe'd Danish shoes and a little elf hat as well to really get the feel for it.
