Perfect song choice, Tommy. That song totally suits your voice and vice versa. Are you sure you didn't grow up in Oak Cliff (suburb of Dallas, Texas)? You've got the right feel for Texas Swing.

You could do this all day and I would not get tired of it.

I am still looking for a little more sharpness in the eq of the mix.

Thanks guys. The funny thing is that SRV was/is my favorite guitar player. But when I tried to learn to play the guitar back around 2001, as would always happen, I'd end up singing more than practicing the instrument.

And as much as people look at SRV for his playing I always loved his vocal style. The same thing goes for Clapton. He is known for his guitar but I pay more attention to his singing style...which I love. For a long while Clapton was a big influence on my singing. Well him and Gregg Allman :)

Since getting the recording equipment I have been itching to do another version of Georgia On My Mind. I think it will sound much better recorded this way as opposed to how I was singing it before via camera. And I had a new interpretation down last I sang it (the other day). I've posted so many versions here that I will spare you guys another one. :D I'll do one with the equipment just to see how it sounds and keep it in my soundclick list is all.

Thanks again, much appreciated. Glad you liked it.

Texas Flood !! I love that song and love singing it. And I have a backing track. But, the track I have has the guitar solos in it which makes it way too long for just a vocal rendition. That's why I haven't done it.

And thanks for the listen and comment :)

Oh, and to compare my vocals with SRV is a great compliment to me. As odd as that may be considering all the big range singers most people aspire too :)

Thanks for that.

I definitely don't think its odd, as good as he was at guitar I don't think he would have had the wide appeal he had without his great voice. Just like Jimi IMO and I wont hear a bad word said about either ;)

As one with a limited range of only about 3 octaves, I am self-servingly here to say that range is not everything. What's important is interpretation and soulfulness, which should be served by technique.

I vote we name Tommy an honorary texan. I can get away with that because I was born in California. Actually, that doesn't really make sense. I can get away with that because I have gumption, chutzpah, gall, daring, whatever.

Tommy is now from Texas (sort of, by way of New York.) Reminds me of my favorite yankee jokes ....

I have two more SRV tracks already recorded and on WED I will be doing Texas Flood as per jonathangraham suggestion.

I'll call it a request, because my ego is big

Gi-normous! How do you fit through a door?

:o

Sorry, couldn't resist, easy open line you left out there and I don't making accepting squirrel shots. Though I do play a little more honorably in a real game of billards, to mix metaphors.
