New video Alex Clare Too Close

Hey guys. I've done a new video cover of Alex Clare's too close. The song is big over here in the UK at the moment.

Would appreciate it if you could take a little listen and any comments welcome as always .....

Things i've been working on....

Vibrato (I don't have much natural vibrato so hopefully there are some small examples of vibrato in there)

creative expression. Been to make a song my own with dynamic changes and other subtleties

I thought that was very good and an interesting take on the song. The original seems like it has a little more angst while yours has more sadness. I heard some slight vibrato in there,,,just a little I thought I heard it first time at the start on the word promises. Very slight. I might have used more but that doesn't mean anything...I'm no authority on vibrato. I heard some more throughout again very slight. By choice? I thought the general feel of the song was good also with the highs and lows and some of the little falsettos and general phrasing.

Nice job. I never heard this song before so it was the original to me. Then I went and listened to the original and was surprised at the different feel. Again, nice job.

And P.S.

The mix was great. I kept taking the headphones off because it sounded like your voice was in the room.

Awesome, thanks man. Yes, I was choosing to use vibrato in some places. I know it's slight but I didn't used to have any, something i'm definitely still working on!!

Gina, I enjoyed it very much, I really like the richness and sultriness of your voice. Once I got into the song, I didn't pay attention to the vibrato and I thought your version was really good so there must have been the right amount of vibrato used. :)

Great Cover! I love the tone of your voice...I must ask what kind of exercises are you doing? I have always had a problem with vibrato too, but focusing on it directly does not really work. I have found the most success by doing fast scales of different variety. Also I would like to know how much time do you devote towards working your Upper pitches since your TA and CT seem out of balance.

Thanks! I have just been doing exercises that trill between 2 pitches getting quicker and quicker. I've yet to find any decent exercises for vibrato.

I do quite a lot of work on my upper pitches. always been an area i've had too. I spent a very long time staying in chest and not able to access head at all. Discovering placement and resonance was my break through! I work on bridging with slow sirens feeling the placement and support, usually on 'mmm' to start with then pure vowels. I do scales too, very slowly introducing more head as I get higher to smooth out the passagio. And looking more in depth into vowel mods lately. Those are the exercises I do that I can think of off the top of my head.

Sounds pretty good I just posted a clip with different extremes of tonal modes and I believe it would help you a lot to do the exercise. Like I said earlier I have always had trouble with vibrato too, but this exercise really helps you to feel how to recreate the vibrato.

Oh yeah I have a great article that my teacher showed me also if you would like to read it I will post :)
