TMV World Legacy Member Ricard Posted July 1, 2012 TMV World Legacy Member Share Posted July 1, 2012 Hi there is an obvious difference in the mouth resonance between you and Mr Matthews. Probably your tongue is closing it. Try to relax the tongue as much as possible, have a lazy pronunciation always pointing towards a hollow "oooo" sound. Work more in your chest voice. Good luck =D
Administrator Robert Lunte Posted July 1, 2012 Administrator Share Posted July 1, 2012 The first thing I would ask is... why do you feel you 'need' to sound like Dave Matthews? Is this because your tribute band is one of these bands that is trying to duplicate every nuance, including using the traditional instruments, etc...? or is this just a cover tune? Understand something here... you can sing the song in YOUR voice with your color and if it is done well, the audience will like it just the same... you don't have to match Dave Matthew's formant colors... just use yours and again, it its done well, people will be ok with it. Having said that, to gets little more "Matthews" color... isn't he a bit "quacky"? Quack up a bit more in your singing and you will lean toward the "Matthews" spectrum. Hope this helps...
