jordan2377
What's the difference between opera vocal technique and classical vocal technique are they one and the same? I am looking for a vocal coach and some describe themselves as teaching opera whereas others both. Is there a difference?
Steven Fraser
Opera is a sub-genre of Classical, that has a specific repertoire and expectation for what kinds of voices sing which roles, and involves acting during productions. Its possible to learn classical singing of Lieder, Melodie and Art song without ever singing a song from opera, but most schools/teachers that teach classical singing will also pick pieces from operas that are appropriate for the particular voice.
