  1. @Snejk. @Jugulator Thanxs again. The funny thing is that you don't realize how tired i can be ^^. It was the 5th or 6th show in a row. And we play for 3h30 or 4h30 each time.
  2. Thanxs Snejk!!! I m a pro because I m paid to sing, but I don't really consider myself as a good singer. I have so many things to learn. And it's only the first year I really sing in a band...
  3. Thanxs geno and adolph. My job is so cool in this band. @adolph. Good idea, I'll do that this week.
  4. Hi there, Just wanted to show you a vid of me singing and playing guitar in my band. It's a french rock song "Un autre monde" by Telephone. This song is not so easy as it seems ^^. Mainly A4 and always have to navigate through passagio. Tell me if you like it ;-) http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x15gt60_esperaza-abyss-2013-09-28-8900_music I'm leaving for another show tonight, see ya
  5. The performance is great but you have to work more on the rythm sync. Especially your snare. You are beat boxing too much before the time.
  6. You need to fit in the character. Even if you are strungling with the guitar Check my post in this section "me on stage mama said" for an example. It s far from perfect but i m really in the song. Keep on workin ;-)
  7. Thanxs to all for the compliments. @justinothersinger Yep you are so right! My biggest problem is support and breathing. Seems that i can't connect it. I always end up by tightening the abs too much and strain or push too much on my vocal folds and throat and end up straining. Do you have Any exercices that could help me? Thank you again! Josh
  8. Hi there, I just love this song and decided to give it a try. please review, be honest with me, good or not tell me what you think. My question is: how can i add a little more "chest". thanxs a lot here's the first try: https://www.box.com/s/vhqsb4nwy5r1ac184ttk have a great weekend!!:D
  9. Hey there, just wanted to post this one. It's me singing live with my band. The song is "always on the run" by Lenny Kravitz. I play the guitar and sing at the same time, and that's what i call difficulties lol. Just wanted some comments and advices on my singing. I still have some real problem (maybe not in this song) to not push the chest voice. Bridging is always my problem. You gonna hear it a lot when i ll post the Police song i have to sing... Anyway here's the link and feel free to shoot your comments See you soon for some crappy recordings ; Josh n roll
  10. @Jonpall Hi buddy! Thanxs for the compliments. I have to admin that i've not been working on my voice at all this year... I had to sing some songs with my bands (professional bands) and i decided to not practice any exercises but just sing the songs. And you know what it has helped me a lot!!! Doing things this way forced me to sing with what i already know, without having to tell me everyday it could be better. I just wanted to "fit" in the songs. Now i really know what i can sing and where are my limits and lack of technique. I'm gonna get back to exercices routine this week, i have a big big big audition for a great rock band (60 gigs a year). And do ever think about coming to france. Living with music in france is really hard. Not many place to play, in paris now it's really hard to be paid for playing, it's a fuckin shame... By the way cool you've enjoyed my guitar playing too. I'll post a new song i did yesterday. it's everybreath you take, it's harder than is seems lol. @rofleren many thanxs!!!
  11. Thanxs Jugulator. It takes a lot of support, but if the sound is in the good place, it makes life really easier. The difficult thing for me is to "switch" from a lot of support to less support. As you can hear in the verses, it's near straining . Strange thing, it has always been easier for me to sing in higher part of my voice than the middle part. I don't talk about the low part, i have no lows lol. If you or others have some good exercices for support, i'll take 'em all!
  12. Hi there Just wanted to post this thing i recorded this week (for an audition) I think it's not that easy to sing lol. The main problem for me is to be relaxed on the verses parts. The chorus is 100% rock n roll, contains some really high notes (D). The only thing that i can tell you is that the volume is really not as loud as it may seems, i finally found the placement and support, i think. So here's the link, i recorded also the guitars. Please comment on it, to help me being a better singer! Thanxs a lot rock buddies!!! ps: if you want to hear my live guitar playing, feel free to go here
  13. Very very good take!!!! To me, the problem in the chorus, is not a problem of power but support... But definitly you have a great voice!
  14. Hi there, long time no see!!! Just found a MP3 i did some months ago. The purpose of this was to train "curbing" and twang. It may sound horrible for some and good for others. For me it's not quite bad, just always having trouble with too much pressure, seems like i would never find the right balance... So please tell me what you think ;-) Josh https://www.box.com/s/adb9aeeaad294dced7cb
  15. thanxs for the compliments on the guitar playing fellas ;-). I wish i could have the same skills with my singing lol Guitartrek: so great you like my impro, and yes i never calculate anything on impro. I'm really not a "licks" player. I think it's more honest to do that. More honest for the people who listen and more honest for me. I have the same approach with singing. I play music to express myself, i live for it. It's my personality, i never calculate lol ;-)... And I LOVE steve lukather, this man is awesome, so much emotions and energy in his playing... a true god!
  16. thanxs buddys, Raphaels: Yep, on the highest notes i seem to have understood how he place his voice, but i think i put too much wieght on my voice... a lighter voice is really the problem for me.... And yep this was not easy to play the guitar part (wich is difficult when you have to sing), be focused on the singing and reading the lyrics at the same time lol. If you guys wanna check what i'm capable of with my guitar, here's a little improvisation i made. Thanxs again for your comments. ;-)
  17. sorry for being late for the reply.... @Jonpall: I don't know what to say, each time i have a problem, you're here for me and you are so helpfull!!!! It's amazing how you understand my problems and how everytime you find the solution.you're like a singing brother to me!!!! It's so right that my vowels are not good, did'nt even notice it before but now i only hear that. I really have to work on it. I now really hear that the vowels never sound the same. Thank you so much @Guitartrek Thanks for the comment! So true i have too much tension, especially on the chorus and on the word "this"... @Wildcat Thanxs for you r compliment too ;-). For the rasp, i always had this kind of tone but jonpall help me so much to get it better. the best trick he gave me: twang, twang, twang and try lowering the soft palate ;-) Now back on the technical stuff lol. I think i also have to work on my range. honestly i've never really worked on increasing it. I'm sure it will help me to be more confortable in the middle/high parts. I'm so focused on the midlle range lol. anyway thans for all your comments!!!!! Josh
  18. Hi there, I've been pretty busy last months so no really time to sing and practice, but started to work on singing today and try to reach a lighter tone a la Richie kotzen. This is the original: And this is mine singing and playing the guitar http://www.box.net/shared/3yd6e9jhxs I'm really fighting to have a lighter tone in midlle voice and have a full sound. So i'm out of tune on some parts. The only part where i'm comfortable is the lastest one (from 2:09 to 2:28) where i sing a high C#. I also have a hard time twanging wihtout engaging swallowing muscles. And there's definitly a lack of twang when i sing. So if you guys can help or just say what you think it will be great. thanxs in advance, Josh
  19. yeas great performance! But for me Layne Stanley and Chris Cornell screams are not "chesty" screams ;-). Listen to some accapela of Cornell on youtbe, jesus christ pose for example. Sometimes when he sing high notes you can clearly hear that the notes are starting from or falling back into head voice ;-) But you're really close to it. And honestly as i said before i also really like your style of rasp. Different but really cool!
  20. It's a tough song! To me, the first thing to work on is breath support, you put too much stress on your vocal folds. That why the voice "disconnect" in the higher scream part at 00:35 for exemple. You try too much to get a powerfull tone. I have the same problem. My advice is to practice this song in lighter voice, at low volume and try to get a fuller tone step by step by increasing and controling the amount of breath support. That's what i do for me, and it seems to work. Keep on working you have a great voice!!
  21. the average listener would just think you are a killer singer ;-)
  22. second version in fantastic. Maybe too much support on some notes after the scream at 2:20. but the song is so hard to sing...
  23. Nice clip. You seem to have a good voice and strong presence. As snax said, could be great to have a recording of your voice ;-). I'm french, i'm from toulouse! Where do you live?
