Hey i think it's very good that you wrote in this thread. Please feel free to share any tribute to dio in here, this goes to others in TMV as well. As for our show it was pretty big actually, but it was possible because we got some big name sponsorships. We covered around 20 songs in total, all the great songs were there - holy diver, temple of the king, children of the sea, all of them. It was an invitation based event becuz the sponsor wanted it that way, but we managed to invite 300 fans. It was greaaat, the biggest show of my life! Your show looks awesome too man! very good guitar playing and the vocalist in the first clip sounds very good. I also loved the voice of the girl in temple of the king, she has this beautiful tone to her. and she's also very beautiful : ). Great work man! Ronnie lives on!

Thanks Thanos, will post as they come out of the processing room. We took the sound from the house board into a small 8-track recorder and post-processing it in the studio. The man behind this is the other guitarist who is playing the gorgeous Fender (its a Fender Eric Clapton Signature prototype, it never reached production...lucky bastard, and I pushed him to buy it when he was in doubt ) Anyway, which singer's approach did you want to know? The first one or the bass player one? I can tell you one thing I know - they are both untrained (meaning no formal lessons), and whatever minimal lessons they have had are in the eastern classical style, which involves learning/practicing while sitting down (and most of the time cross-legged or half-lotus position as well)...So I can pretty much tell you that they can't really break down how they are managing this . I will try to talk to one of them to see if I can find anything. BTW: the bassist-singer is one of the early pioneers of our metal scene, but my respect for him went up 10 times after this gig. The guy is a monster singer.

Jon, mate thanks again!!! I used to hang my guitar way up high earlier (easier to play legato lines that way) but I've lowered it a lot over the last few years, cuz frankly, (like it or not) it has an effect on people - thanks to one Mr. Jimmy Page . and yeah you should use the monitors that way, much easier and looks cool too . btw I checked out your 'for the love of god' solo and man it was really well done! Bands like Dio, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, they were a HUGE part of our musical childhood growing up. Esp Iron Maiden & Metallica.

Hehehe Thanos, that singer is a young kid (at least 5 yrs younger than me), and all these players are from different bands who came together for this special show. We auditioned him for this gig along with 2 more. Fun fact: after a couple of weeks of this gig, we were hanging out at a release party of another band's album, and this kid says: 'Fahim bhai (big brother), will you please play permanently with us, we will pay you'...I rolled over laughing at the hilarious sincerity of him. LOL! I am about to start jamming with them soon : ) and no, I am not taking any 'pay' lol :D

Hey Geno! really good work there...to my ears the track sounded professional and your voice was spot on, all the good things happening, no pitch issues, only one note, a high one, seemed like a bit strained. Also one thing i noticed was the music was a bit too loud for your voice to be heard nicely, esp towards the end of the track where more instruments come in. otherwise really really good stuff. Also, must compliment on your acoustic guitar tone/recording. very crisp and sweet. what are you using (guitar & recording gear) last question, what method of voice lessons are you using? rock on mate! (I haven't visited soundclick in sooooo long!)

But I don't know how I can fix my accent issues yet...my long island, NY resident friends don't hear it in me and neither do I, but I am sure it's there so I guess I will definitely take a look into it as soon as I fix the pitch/range issues! Olem, then I think you should sing the intro as the original. I think you are being tired because of pulling chest and/or incorrect support & coordination. Actually, it can be quite more difficult to produce and sing in good powerful tones in the mixed voice - where this song is mostly at, compared to high, heady voices. I think it might have fallen into your passagio area, which is the area where the chest register/voice is ending but the head voice/register has not started yet. This is a often difficult area to master, but given your capabilities, you will soon master it. Just takes practice. Ignore my comment on the song being written for the singer's specific middle voice. I will create even more confusion if I try to explain what's in my head because I am just a learner as well. For the breath management, have you heard of Jamie Vendera's 'micro breath' concept? Try inhaling a very small amount of air before phrases or when you need to inhale, instead of the natural urge to taking in a lot of air. And then release it as slowly as possible while singing. I read the CVT book last night on breathing and it also gives you some really good ideas about breath manaagement, support and 'ending a phrase'. Go through that chapter Rock On my friend!!!

Hey Olem... Good Song and Good Job by you! I like your tone! You have a strong low-middle voice in this one! First of all, the intro verse seemed to be one octave lower that you are singing it? I am not sure? can you check that again? or is there another layer of voice in the lower octave in the original recording? To my ears you sound just a little bit pulling chest, but you are in the best position to tell that - are you feeling discomfort or soreness after the song? then maybe you should take another look on how to sing this song. To me the original song sounds like it's written for the middle/mixed voice of the singer, which might be different from yours, so you have to figure this out yourself - may be find out your passagio points in relation to the notes of this song and then find out the best coordination to hit those notes. I don't understant CVT terms yet so I can't explain to you how to do that. I use the infamous SS and MM by Manning and I would approach this song with a high-mixed voice, I would find out the problem notes and try to sing them first with 'Nay Nay Nay' and then bring in the words slowly. But overall I really liked your voice. I also notice you have a nice vibrato and good control on your pitch. That really is something hard to do man!!! And lastly, thanks for turning me to this song and band . Melodic rock rocks! \m/
