  1. Here's a recording from this evening, now I tried recording audio with 2 mic's and a line out from guitar (one of the mic's visible, other one as a room mic). I think it was KillerKu who in one of my previous covers pointed out I should make more of an effort with the recording setup. It's not yet where I want it to be with the audio, but getting better I think. Anyway - I like this song, it's fun to sing and leaves room for playing around with distortion.
  2. Wow! Well done! Crazily good cover on this one. Maiden is tough stuff to sing. I like your control and smoothness of your top register!
  3. Thank you all for comments and support!  Rob & KillerKu - I agree about the tempo. I just get too excited when singing this and start speeding it up. I should probably start practicing with a metronome.  Gneetapp - thanks man! For this coming gig we'll stick to acoustics. 2 guitars, Cajon and tambourine. Other guitarist will sing some backing vocals on some songs (but probably not this one). I'll think about adding more weight, but don't want to get all too heavy when having a lot more songs in the set I'm getting better and better control over distortion, but I'm still not 100% with it (but starting to be very near full control now), so I'm trying to keep this a bit lighter so as to not over sing.
  4. From this afternoons acoustic practice. Planning to sing this on a gig next month.  Distortion is working better and better, with less effort needed.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XAXGfkovup8
  5. I liked this one a lot. Very heartfelt. I agree with others on here that you have your own vocal sound, a very important thing as a singer. You definitely have an accent singing this, but it's not necessairily something bad.   Anyhow - very nice work! Keep it up!
  6. Gneetapp and bono1982 - thank you ver much!   I'm very grateful for all the nice comments on here, really heartwarming guys! I'll try to get some new material with better quality audio up in a not too distant future!
  7. I was also a bit confused initially, didn't expect the jazzy stuff. Your vocals sound great. Nice tone, and cool that it was so clear in the busy jazz part. I thought the guitar sound on the heavy part was maybe on the thin side, could be a bit more beefy maybe? I'd like to hear the whole track when it's done!
  8. Vats & Ken - thank you both for the feedback!   And Ron thanks for the link. I do have some songs I need to learn first, but I will definitely add that one to the list!   I'll admit I'm no big Kiss fan, although I do enjoy listening to them. Paul Stanley have some serious pipes. I picked this song up when searching for 80s rock for a troubadour gig. Didn't feel like I could do it in original key though, and I skipped the key change by the end   Seems there's no going back from using distortion now when I learnt how to do it. Everyone, myself included, seem to prefer it to the clean singing, haha.
  9. I really like this one! Lots of heart put into this, and I like how you're playing with dynamics and some distortion. I would maybe like it to be just a little, little more polished. But I'm damaged when it comes to listening also. Do you have any video of live performances? I would imagine you are great on stage, at least it's the feeling I get when hearing you.
  10. Says the first one (The Way Love Goes) is removed, but I listened to One Last Cry. Sounds great man, I like all the riffs and runs you got going. Very pro. I'm not so much into RnB and soul, but I'd say you got this style by the balls. Great work!
  11. I think it sounds great. Good tone, suits the song. What I would like to see is you knowing the song, and facing the camera in a performance instead of facing away from it - when you have another go at recording it
  12. Thank you very much guys! Ron, I hadn't heard that song before. I might give it a try some day! KillerKu - thanks for the ideas. I'll definitely do some more proper recordings. This was a spontaneous thing. Wife and kids left home for two hours so I had some time to practice and sing, so I figured I'd just turn the camera on and rock it. Thanks for the link also, hadn't heard about Allen Stone at all. Real nice song, and fun idea with living room recording!
  13. Was doing some acoustic practice today, and decided to record some stuff. Ended up singing this a bit heavier than I usually do, I just kinda got into the groove   '>
  14. Damn! This was some awesome singing! Real pro stuff. I seriously dig your voice. Nice low range, awesome belt and very much a "one voice" feeling. You got this raw power going on. Post some more dude!
  15. Sounds really good! There were some small parts that were a bit pitchy, mainly on the part starting at about 2.14. Very nice for a first run, and you got the right vocal colour and tone for this song. Great work, keep it up!
  16. bono1982 thank you very much! Jens thanks buddy, couldn't have done it without you. Daniel thank you very much! Distortion singing have been something that felt very unachievable for me. Haven't had any natural rasp at all, always sounded very nice and edgeless. It's such a great feeling that all the hard work I've put in practicing rasp actually paid off :D
  17. Olem - tusen tack! I listened to some of the new Evergrey songs off youtube. I think I have to get the album! Thanks for the recommendation. Seems they are going more and more back towards what originally caught my interest with the band.
  18. Ron, thank you very much! Yeah, that tmv forum song never really got finnished. There were only 2 singers who ever contributed with vocals besides me and Jens if memory serves me right. I think we've had quite a lot of collab songs up here. We still write music together. A bit harder when not living in the same country anymore though.
  19. I'm not too fond of this one buddy. The guitars aren't easy, but it kinda breaks the song for me when they are a bit sloppy. I'd like to hear it again when you've really practiced the guitar parts. Singing wise, I listened a bit to the original. I'd like to hear you do this one with more of that country twang and just a tad more flow to the vocal lines. Sounds good, but you could improve on this one! Hope you don't take offense, I just think you could own this one with a little more practice (and this is just my humble opinion).
  20. Damn! I'm impressed. Awesome dynamics, REAL cool belting. And I'm jealous of your falsetto. You can have it super soft and real brutal (just gave a ear to your battle angels). Nice job dude!
  21. I like the song, sets a nice mood. I like the guitar and melody. There were a few pitchy notes on the vocals, mainly by the end of the song I think. Shouldn't be any trouble to fix, just go over it a few times and really know where the melody will go. Sometimes I got the feeling the melody was very low for you, but could be related to recording volume as well. I'm gonna assume it's recorded live with one microphone or device like a phone. The vocals are low in volume compared to the guitar. So much that I have a hard time hearing the lyrics in some parts. Could the mic be moved closer to your mouth when recording?
  22. I think it sounds good man! I like your vibrato, and you got the right sound color for this (sort of rock tenor feeling). I like the top part also, with going into what I'd refer to as rock falsetto very seamlessly ("should have been said for the boy"). Keep on working this type of material!
  23. Adolph, thank you very much for the nice comments! Me and Jens go way back, and talk a lot of vocal technique over Skype. Have had a few sessions with him on distortion and that's had a massive impact on my vocal abilities.
  24. Alright, have to check out the new album then! Thanks for the recommendation! I'm from the north of Sweden, Gothenburg is in the southwest. But I live in a Finland now. I have a bunch of friends living in Gothenburg tough.
  25. Ã…h, man tackar! Really like Johnny Lindqvist, the original singer. Powerful voice and very nice distortion. Too bad they haven't released anything new in ages.
