  1. I'm going to have to agree with Mark here. You just need to train your voice. Don't limit yourself to what your voice can do now. Of course you shouldn't sing songs that are out of your range but know that with training they can be within your range. I suggest you contact Robert Lunte. He can help you out with this.
  2. Chele that was amazing. I have no idea how on earth he does that. He's got a beautiful voice to boot. He could have a successful career as a recording artist as well! I'm in awe.
  3. Hey people how are you all? When I do my practise exercises there are certain ones which I basically can do with minimal effort and others that are hard and take a lot of concentration and effort to do them right. Is there any benefit in let's say doing a tough scale/arpeggio and repeating the same exercise a few times to work it in and get "better" at it before going on to another exercise? I'm hoping the pros weigh in on this one. Thanks!
  4. Wow cool! I guess you are lucky that your job affords you the freedom to play around with your voice so much. However I think there's nothing better than a focused session with intent to practice and work on specific technique. To get good at something you need a system. But if this works for you then enjoy. I was wondering what you meant about spiritually and with visualization. Care to explain?
  5. Well I don't currently go for lessons I work from programs I bought. I'm still working through beginner exercises and once I master that Ill go further. Maybe I should take lessons. Its just that the prices of quality lessons are a bit much and it doesn't pay to not follow through for the long haul so I'm still undecided. Maybe ill book a lesson and see how it goes. As for recording myself, I do have the Olympus LS-10 so I can record myself in high quality but I wouldn't know what I'm doing wrong so what's the use? Or maybe that's the proper way to understand how to use your own instrument by hearing it wrong and keeping on making adjustments until you get it right?
  6. Thanks for the reply Steve. I honestly wish my schedule gave me that freedom. Ill definitely try to fit that in! Wow are you making me feel like a slacker! I guess my half hour a day isn't all that much. The thing is I have a routine I created by borrowing some beginner exercises from some programs I purchased. They can give me about 45 minutes worth of material tops not to mention that the first 8-10 minutes are warm ups. How would I best split up my practice time? How much on repertoire?
  7. Hey Steve. You mean to say that a student should be doing scales and othee vocal exercises for up to 2 hours? Wow I gotta really change my game plan then! I do like 10 minutes of warm up and about 20 of various scale exercises. I can do more I just want to know if I should. I want to se results dammit! Am I better off doing let's say an hour straight or is it better to do a 30 minute session in the morning and then bang out another later in the day?
  8. Hey thanks for the reply. I always sing with my tongue down and the tip resting on my bottom teeth as much as possible. Isn't that where the tongue should be when not needed specifically to pronounce a sound that requires it like the letter D for example?
  9. I'm wondering if I spend enough time working on my voice or too little. I personally do a session of approx. 30 minutes worth of warm ups + exercises for improving my voice once a day 6 days a week. I'm a beginner and I have been doing this for about 4 months with moderate results. I guess I could say I sound better after I do my warmups and stuff but don't know how much overall progress I am making. How long do you guys spend on your voice daily? Should I maybe do 2 of my 30 minute sessions a day? I look forward to many interesting replies. Your input is greatly appreciated.
  10. Can someone please clarify which vowels are open and which are closed (or whatever the opposite of open vowels would be)? Thanks!
  11. Hey Robert. I own your program. What's the title of the video clip that you demonstrate the exercises for this on? Thanks
  12. This is coming up a lot lately on the boards. What is it, what does it accomplish and how does one develop it? Looking forward to your replies.
  13. Thanks. I still don't see how that helps me. The fact is my lower notes are shaky pitchy and sound flat. I need to add richness. I'm pretty sure that requires exercises to strengthen that part of my voice.
  14. The info was general not specific. He says the voice needs to be strengthened from the inside. If you don't strengthen those muscles then when you try to sound powerful or louder you push a lot of air and you overload the larynx and neighboring muscles join in and choke off the area resulting in a weak sound and a sore throat. Larynx exercises are supposed to offset this.
