  1. Hey, I have this problem that I always have to add volume to get higher notes. I just can't hit higher notes without adding volume, and singing a bit louder than I would like to. For example here: http://www.box.net/shared/ipi1dsi70n You can hear that I'm pushing a little, and I think I sing this a bit louder than I should, am I right? I would love to sing it softer but I just can't. I think I sing this in mix, but I think it's a bit too loud, right? but if I sing it softer than this I will go to falsetto for those higher notes. So how do I control my volume, and learn to hit higher notes in less volume? I have big problem with that.
  2. Hi, here is me singing "Always on the run" by Lenny Kravitz. http://www.box.net/shared/ipi1dsi70n I think this is big step forward in my singing, because month ago I couldn't sing this song at all this high, as I was pushing my chest voice for years, and didn't have any head/mix voice. Now I think this is more the mix then chest (Am I right?) because I feel my voice resonating in the mask area of my head. But this is still not very smooth, and it's not so easy for me to sing it. I add some raspiness to voice, cause it's the only way that I can hit this high notes, it's usually unintentional raspiness, not something I aim for but it's there anyway when I sing high, I can't hit those notes with clear voice. So does anyone has some input on me singing, and can tell me if he/she can hear something I do wrong here? Thanks, Nikola
  3. Ok, all CVT supporters right there, I need some help... I bought Complete Vocal technique, and I'm not sure I understand two terms: 1) first one is 'cry' - how do you apply cry to singing? Can someone give me some examples on youtube where I can hear some people add cry to their voice, so that I can understand better. And also is 'cry' same as 'twang'? 2) second one is 'hold' - how do you establish a hold to your voice. I have CVT book and I read descriptions but I'm not sure I understand this very good. I have problem that I usually sing too much pushing my chest voice and I understand that I should add some cry to go from 'overdrive' which is what I think I mostly use, to 'curbing' which I think I would like to learn now. Can someone help? Tnx, Nikola
  4. Hey, I have a problem that when I go to head voice I justa can't keep larynx down. It will move up for high notes no matter what I try, and it always give me weak soud or my voice cracks or flips to falsetto. It will happen even for the easiest exercises like humrs. Is there something I can do :/
  5. What is he doing wrong here? He hit the notes, he goes to head voice (CVT supporters will kill me:) which is good, but it's pretty hard for him, he struggles to much and I guess he does his voice harm, like going to high with his larynx. Do you think he could do it some easier way? I have similar problem like him so that is why I'm asking... Tnx
  6. I was just wondering if what I think here is correct: TO SING ROCK MUSIC REGISTER YOU WILL PROBABLY USE THE MOST IS MIXED VOICE. Here are some examples, where I think that singers are using mostly mixed voice: 3 Doors Down - Here without you Faith No More - Easy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9X_msJ-7OI Pearl Jam - Jeremy ...and most of their songs are in similar register. You can hardly get lower/more powerful sounding voice they have if you use head voice too much. And you don't want to push up your chest voice. So I find mixed voice the most useful register in today's rock music. Am I right? So if I want to sing rock music the register I should concentrate on mostly will be mixed voice?
  7. Thanks everyone, so basically I should go easy on it, and if it flips to falsetto then it's ok - I will be able to do it easier in time when my voice goes stronger... I guess that is the right way. About adding twang, I'm really not sure abot HOW SHOULD I DO THAT, I'm familiar with the term (I have CVT disc too besides Singing Success), but I tried working on it and I have no clue how to add twang, and I couldn't understand it better from book or cds of CVT unfortunatelly, so I guess that is something I will work more on in future... If someone has any more tips, please go on, I'm looking for every advice Thanks ;)
  8. Hi, I started using Singing Success program these days, and I have a problem that I just can't go to head voice without cracking to falsetto whatever I try. As you can see in example whenever I have to go to head voice it usually flips to falsetto or totally cracks if I try to do it with a bit more volume (not yelling). If I push a little more I can sometimes hit those notes but then my throat hurts so I guess I shouldn't be pushing any more. I'm totally doing something wrong, and I tried relaxing throat, dropping jaw but things like that didn't make much change. Here is the example where I try to do scale: http://www.box.net/shared/pdkj47spm9 The thing is I was used to 'push chest voice' for long time, and I just recently learned about 'head voice' and it's possibilities, but as you can see I'm having trouble getting there. Am I doing something crucially wrong, or it should be better with time? Any suggestions or tips for my mistakes? Thanks... Nikola
