  1. By the way, just checked your Cornell's Steel Rain cover, that was very cool!!!
  2. I guess it depends on the vocalist, for example when Dio sang the line "like some neverending wheel" in holy diver, he stayed true to the vowel and sang whIIL on a C5, not whEEHl. When cornell sings "the day i tried to live", he sings lEEHv on a C#5. Experiment with vowel sounds and shades and listen to the way others shape them, thats one of the best advices I received on the forum!
  3. Hello! This is my vocal track from a rehearsal with my band, you can even hear them playing in the background, its surprising how much noise the Shure sm58 picks up. What do you guys think? WARNING, the music in the first 5sec is low and when my vocals start it gets LOUD https://app.box.com/s/5nv7ayr1v7if38t0gpxo
  4. I'm no expert, but you seem to be singing with a lot of closed vowels, especially during the Man in the box chorus, like fIIIIId my eyes, jIIIIsus christ, doesnt that tire out your voice faster than if you were to sing the vowels more open towards Eh, like Layne sings it? Cornell also opens up the vowels on the higher notes. Other than that, I liked the Man in the Box cover!!
  5. Or try figuring out the vocal melody on a piano\guitar, that way you can be sure which note you want to sing.
  6. At 0:40, 0:53 and 1:25 it sounds out of tune, like you dont know where exactly you want to end that melody, sometimes it happens to me also, when the melody goes down the scale, you have to think of the note you want to end it at.
  7. I could open the video, watched it, were you going for an AC DC feel on the high D5s? I think its just too high, it sounds like a "fake" voice, doesn't blend with your lower register, its disconnected. I remember seeing another original song of your band, where your bandmates were complaining that you were singing too high or something like that, but I thought it was sounding ok, your higher register was blending better. The guitarist did a nice solo, the backing vocals could use some improvement.
  8. Great singing man! My neighbour also hates me because the walls are so thin that he can hear me talking normally on the phone, let alone practising high notes. Just wanted to mention something that kinda bugged me, I felt like you were rushing the tempo on both songs, singing the phrase a fraction of second before it felt right. Maybe its just me. But anyways, awesome voice !
  9. Could you show me where he goes that high and in CHEST voice, because thats not only impossible but I also checked a video on his higher range notes and he doesnt sound that chesty, its just strong head/mixed voice.
  10. Hey, guys, this is footage from the first gig of my band, it was acoustic at a birthday party. I was kinda holding back because I didnt want to be much louder then the instruments. If you click on the youtube channel, you can also find covers of HIM-Wicked Game, Pearl Jam-Alive and Alex Clare-Too Close. By the way, please select at least 480p for quality, it also changes the sound quality. So, what do you think?
  11. Well, you have a great voice! Very nice and pleasant tone. I was with one headphone in when the song began and then I just had to put the other one in when you started singing!
  12. Good job, some pitchy moments, but overall your vowels were all in place and you have a strong supported tone!
  13. Az samo peq, taka che ne moga da ti dam syveti za tehnikata, dobre izpqto, ne chuh falshivo, v nachaloto mai beshe nerven,a ? Kym kraq proiznasqshe dumite po-dobre, v nachaloto leko "myrzelivo" peeshe, naprimer "zavinagi" az bih natyrtil poveche glasnite i na poslednoto "i" malko po-otvoreno bih go izpql.. Tuk nai-visokata nota beshe F4, postni neshto po-rock Pozdravi!
  14. That was awesome!! By the way what exactly do you do at 3:04, because it sound like you start clean and then you add the rasp and the way you project that note, it sounds sooo cool!! How did you achieve this particular type of tone for the note, head resonance?
  15. Thanks for the feedback Tommy! Yes thats correct that im off pitch on those places, especially in the beginning of the chorus, but the thing that messed me up was that i was also thinking about playing the bass and didn't support good :)
  16. Thanks, guitargeorge! I am still wondering how to pronounce "friend", I try to not OVERpronounce the "D" and I end up without it I got some comment that my voice sounds dull and in my throat, is it so ? What do u guys hear?
  17. Hi, this is a song that we are working on, we wanted to do a dirtier version of the original. Normaly I dont play bass so I was kinda confused at some point with singing and reading lyrics/playing, but I think it turned out pretty good. And you get to see me in a video http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=171417906337576&set=vb.441750462522749&type=3&theater Btw you dont have to be logged in facebook to check it out.
  18. Whoaaa, maaan, you got great skills!!!! I mean, playing basic chords and singing is difficult, let alone SHREDDING AND SINGING.....and you said somewhere you were 18?? Amazing....
  19. I believe you, I mean you have been through this and you know better than me. Besides I just listened to your version of the song and its awesome. :)
  20. Well, I can speak for myself, I like challenging songs, it just pushes me to sing songs that im still not supposed to sing, on my level I mean. And since im young and hasty, it just makes things worse But you are saying that its maybe the basics that im missing - well isnt breath support one of the basics ? Im not looking for a quick fix -> its obvious thats not gonna happen. I just need a direction or an advice, thats it, since music is just a hobby for me and im studying to become a doctor, I am never going to train so hard as you did, but that doesnt mean i should just give up singing that song right? ;)
  21. Thanks, maybe I am pushing too much, yeah, maybe thats why my intercostal muscles get tired and i dont have the energy to support the next line.. I'm goingo to try singing it lighter and without rasp next time, to see what happens I checked Fair to Midland, they sound very cool, the problem is that if I introduce them to my band for example with the song Musical Chair, Im pretty sure at least the bass player is going to hate me, it sounds pretty technical...
  22. Hello there, this is an audio recording from my band's last rehearshal, we played the song only once or twice till now, so we are still working on the mistakes, so to say. But I'm starting to feel that at my level its impossible for me to sing this DAMNED chorus, I mean, I've heard Cornell singing this live and he also seems like he is straining all over the place, and since I like me some challenge I decided to introduce this song to the band. So, what exactly is my problem, what am I doing wrong? The chorus goes like B4 A4 G4 and I seem to be able to nail the first "Nail in my hand, from my creator, you gave me a life now, show me how to live" and then I have this choking feeling in my mouth/throat and feel like I dont have enough energy to sing the rest of it, as you can hear my voice starts thinning out and sounding shit(the first part is also a bit strainy though...). And after that my lower back feels like I did heavy deadlifting and Im just exhausted. The thing is my voice doesnt feel tired or hurt after that, I just rest for 1 min and can sing some more... I have a couple of theories, for example that I am just taking too much breath in and tensing, so my throat tenses. Or that my support is just not strong enough yet. I don't know, suggestions? Here is it, the chorus starts at 1:23, this "choking" feeling starts around 1:36, u can hear it at 1:40. Second chorus at 2:13 and CHOKE on 2:22. The second is just plain painful to listen....but please bear with it https://www.box.com/s/37ihkwt3vy2yqf754wix Recorded with a camera, I just extracted the audio, so the quality is not awesome. Thanx
  23. Hi, guys, seems that Queensryche are pretty popular around here, funny thing I knew almost nothing about Geoff Tate besides that he sang in the "We are stars" song with Dio and co. So, I searched a bit and liked this song, Take hold of the flame, I didn't know it so good as u can hear on the recording, but I would like to have some feedback on my mixed/head voice, does it sound ok? Would it sound good through a mic? I kinda messed up on "signs of unforetold" and "edges of your mind", too much chest I guess.. So here it is https://www.box.com/s/eeaa3d78cqj71gvjahox Recorded with a samsung galaxy smartphone, just added some dinamics processing with adobe audition because the high notes were kinda loud, although i was 2 foot from phone.
  24. Man, you should cover some Van Halen stuff, you sound a lot like David Lee Roth!!
