  1. Ill give it a shot, not really my thing doing this high stuff, but anyways, will certainly be a great study.
  2. Tnx a lot for the kind words @ Tommy, one of my favorites too! @ Keith tnx man! Not really a tenor, I dont have 10% of the skill it takes . About the low notes, my voice is not really strong down low, but this song is not sooo low, so it must be a technical problem of some sort. Poor choice of dinamics maybe. Tnx for the detailed review! @ ronws U2 is such a wonderfull band... Bono interpretation lines are so thick and full of details, and yet he does not rely only on strong dinamics to deliver... The man is a monster. And The Edge, although some guitar players may disagree with me, in my opinion is also on a class of his own. Simple stuff yes, but it sounds simply perfect .
  3. Not correct, its becomming too dark and closed on the higher notes and the low notes need ajustment before its possible.
  4. Keith listenning to the song right now. First I have to say that I really like this BT, and I would appreciate if you could mail me a copy . Now, on your singing. Man, the beginning is almost perfect, until the higher section, your voice is sounding much more natural than on other recordings, much more defined and pleasant to hear than before. There is just a little mistake on the beginning where one note kinda wobbles, if you could fix that, it would improve the whole track a lot. I would also take care with that darkening that I know Geoff Tate used a lot, I had the feeling that you overused it after hearing it. I think that one time at the beginning and at the middle, on strategic spots, and taking care to not drawn the other vowels in the darkness would work best. This is an interpretative choice, so there is no right or wrong, but its how it felt to me. The higher notes, I gotta be sincere with you, are not working. But the falsetto is comming more natural, it sounds pleasant, it just does not fit the song. As you ajust more and more all aspects of your voice, I think you will gradually get the hang of it. This is a very hard song... Geoff Tate can not be human . The work of dinamics on these higher sections is something on a class of his own. Nice job on the lower parts, on the higher range, since I understand are studying already, its a matter of time. GL!
  5. A special song that I did for a very special person (persons now). Had a great time doing this one, spoted a few mistakes around but I liked how it sounds and decided to keep the take. Hope you guys like it! http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11815528&q=hi Tnx in advance for everyone who can listen, and even more tnx for those who can drop a few lines about it, its been really helpfull. Cheers!
  6. I love this song man... Why dont you try lowering the Backing Track tonality? I would really like to hear you singing it with more comfort, if you want, mail it to me and Ill return it to you 2 semitones lower. A few things that I hear: On the verses, you are handling it somewhat well, but I do notice a bit of strain starting to happen. On the chorus, well you are hitting a technical wall there, its not a limitation of your voice, its a limitation of what you are doing with your voice. I can hear some vowels working a little better than others, so there is a good basis to develop what you want. Also the original song has one of the strongest interpretation lines I ever heard, I know that you like to do your own thing, but if you used just a bit of the original ideas as a barebone with your tone over it... I bet you can make someone cry . Anyways its just a suggestion, if you are interested, Ill detail what I have in mind a bit further.
  7. Yep. The main problem doing this was noise. Ill do a few more tests, but the main difference is that im using a cheap internet call headset plugged directly on the stock soundboard. Im tampering with noise reduction in order to make it usefull and maybe make a poors man guide to track vocals on the future. If it works, it would be a great tool I think.
  8. Tnx keith! So, you think this recording quality works? Was kinda concerned. Tnx rowns, and also tnx for her . I am also interested on the mic and recording quality. It may become something nice on the future. Ill listen to your recordings later an let you know guys. Tnx for the feedback!
  9. Tampering with the vowels without a defined purpose and planning will lead to problems, and possibly, actually a loss of quality.
  10. Here is mine: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11808971&q=hi I used 2 takes, was not in the mood of listenning to the mid section.
  11. Hey guys! I am trying a few things recording on a different setup of the one I normaly use, kinda of a new one. Please let me know what you guys think of the quality of it, and of the singing of course I wish the Backing Track was less compressed . Anyways, tough song, requires care with dinamics and the lower section is tough to sound as deep as the original. Hope its passable. 2 takes, one before, one after the solo. The voices in the mid-section are not mine. Here is the link: http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11808971&q=hi Tnx!
  12. Tnx a lot for hearing guys, and for letting me know. Really appreciate it .
  13. Ok, Ill be honest. Does not sound good, so if your question is about using this material on the net, it does not render a good impression. Can you learn, yes of course. Will you be good? Up to you. Now should you learn? Well Its you life, we cant decide for you. I can only answer for myself, I do study and Ill never stop.
  14. Dr. I think that you can contribute with the comunity, and your opinion as a listener is very valuable to me, just keep in mind that like/dont like is not the same as knowing why you dont like. So, since you clearly do not have knowledge on singing itself, its my advice that you refrain from trying to find reasons for your opinions. Honest feedback is something valuable, guessing about what others should do with their voices is only destructive. But yes, I agree with you that non singers opinions are valuable.
  15. Dr.Evil tnx for the comments! Tommy, this song is really impressive, when I first heard it on the S&M show, it blew me away. Tnx for listenning and for your words! Ill give it a shot on wiskey, Ill try a more dirty approach. Izz tnx, really nice to hear this Keith Unforgiven would be neat to give a shot. Could you send it? Mike, yea I just noticed listenning on my notebook that I should have used less reverb and maybe rided the faders on the lower chorus parts, I was like, wtf, why am I not singing here? Tnx a lot for the carefull listenning man . rowns, just made my day ! if it reminds you of the S&M version, my objective was really accomplished . This is the original instrumental track of that recording, as far as I know. S&M is a masterpiece... Give me the chills everytime I hear/watch it.
  16. The emission pattern is modal, the resonance strategy is neither chest or head, its something that you found on your own that MAY be used to build both. Its sounding relatively functional, which is good. Look for orientation man, you are in your way into a great confusing experience that you simply do not have the tools to solve yet.
  17. Keith, tnx man . Karaoke tracks? Which ones do you have from metallica? I would love to have a few, do you have the god that failed? Or Whiskey in the Jar?
  18. So, just recorded this, love this song, one of my favorites from Metallica! Anyone who could listen and drop a few lines, thanks in advance http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?songid=11771843&q=hi&newref=1 Tnx :)
  19. Hey man. Ok, try this with a lot of caution please: On your chest voice, comfortable tone where you have volume, close your mouth and say "NEE" internaly. Try to relax your jaw and tongue as much as possible. To help relax them, place your hands on the sides of your jaw before phonating and try to mentally prevent it from moving (do not HOLD the jaw with your hands, just feel the position). Feel this humming against your upper teeth. After you get it going, refine the exercise, now aim to make this humming project directly from the back of you head into your front teeth. Its ok to put some energy in it, just dont scream. Slowly remove any feelings you have on your throat. Try doing it a few times, slowly, while making this humming with a progressevily more "annoying" sound, and then proceed into singing one of these phrases as you normaly would. It may help to think about keeping the ringing on your upper teeth while you enter in head voice. GL!
  20. Olem I like it, still your voice sounds restrainned, the focal point sounds directed to the top of your head instead of out, kinda kills all the effort your are putting on it, and makes you work more for less. How do you feel support working on these sections?
  21. I did not like it man... The posture is all too high, your larynx is comming up and you are strainning from the very start, does not sound natural. Look for a coach, start working on breathing and support and adressing these problems first, before thinking of passagio and singing this kind of material. As a immediate tip, think more of a yawn, will protect your voice somewhat and will relief all this pressure. This is not nearly enough to sing this song with quality and comfort though, you have a lot of hard work ahead of you. GL.
  22. Jef I do not understand what you want... Why is this on the review section? Are you asking us if its normal that Baritones have falsetto? If so, yes it is. Usually countertenors are singers with heaviers voices that trainned into this directoin, as the quality of the falsetto produced is usually best suited for it. But since we are on the review section and you are a classical baritone, please send us a recording of you performing an aria! Would love to hear it.
  23. ronws tnx for the details man, Ill review the first section, my intention was to bring the same feel to the song doing my thing, so something is not working, more study is due About the backing vocals, I agree, the track would be much better without them. About the solo, well, I wont really blame who made the track, I can count in my fingers the number of times Ive seem Tom Morello solos well executed... It actually made me wish that there was no solo there haha, as you say, Casio Tonebank tone. Olem, I really appreciate your comment man, this band is a huge influence to me, really kind words, thank you geno, tnx a lot, I remember a few years ago, before trainning, the struggle it was to even get through this song, or better saying scream it out. Everyone huge tnx for listenning. :D
