  1. Your vocal classification really does not matter unless you plan on singing opera or the like. Sounds o me like you are a tenor, though, as you are having a real hard time with your lower notes. Lessons would help a lot with this issue. You waiver in and out of key a bit, most likely due to lack of good support. Lessons will help with this also. This forum is loaded with people that teach via skype. it may be a good idea to have a skype lesson with a pro and find out where you stand and decide from there weather or not you want to buy a program, or continue taking skype lessons, or whatever.
  2. Glad ya liked it man! Listen to the original, he sings the light heady parts super light - lighter I think that I did here lol.
  3. Thanks man. I LOVE Kamelot. So much emotion in his voice.
  4. Got me some new recording software! Let me know if it only plays in your left ear (lol). Anyway, if someone want to add the effects in the middle , feel free to. I haven't figured out enough of the new software to do it justice.
  5. I actually got the upgrade for my cakewalk today - looks totally different lol. Will take a day or two to figure it out - but my vocals now play in both ears!
  6. I just found out that my Cakewalk Sonar 8 is not compatible with my laptop... which has caused all sorts of problems. so, I will have to get the upgrade and hopefully I can resolve my recording issues! Glad ya liked it and thanks for listening. :)
  7. That's for listening! I didn't mean to sound like I was making excuses.. rather, I believe that it is important to provide a thorough background if the circumstances surrounding the recording so that people who listen can give the best possible critique.
  8. Very cool guys! I'd like to hear Bridge Over Troubled Water next!
  9. well, this is very hard for me. The changes from soft to loud, resonance, and placement are very confusing at th moment. Coupled with my allergies and the mic clipping, I am not very proud of it - but, it is one take and my first try so it can only get better from here! http://soundcloud.com/keith-goehner/kamelot-epilogue-cover
  10. Sounds like he is trying to hard to mimic the original. Also sounds like he is singing way too soft, like he is holding back - so soft at some points that his voice turns to vocal fry or has moments where his voice stops producing sound altogether. Other than that it sounds ok.
  11. The mic input level is too high, thats why it sounds distorted - it is clipping. It would sound very nice if the mixing was a little more balanced. i'd try lowering the mic input level a bit. What do you use to record?
  12. Well, found out why it felt scratchy to sing this. I got sick .. FFS.
  13. On a side note, I REALLY need to get some monitors..
  14. The next installment of my madness. I felt scratchy while singing it for some reason.
  15. That wasnt falsetto, that was head voice. I can hold those notes forever, using very little air. i can't mix that high yet.I was getting to B4 in a super strong mix before I took a break to concentrate on school work. I think I am at G4 now. I have such a deep heavy voice that its hard to thin out and mix high at the moment. I am, however, trying!
  16. I didn't mean for the vocals to be soooo loud, but I did want them louder than normal as to not hide any "glitches" in my singing. My voice changes a bit when I get into mixed voice, the higher notes are all head voice. I could not get the mixed voice to work that high - its a work in process lol. I took 7 months off from singing, and I just started doing workouts again last week.
  17. I wish I had that range problem lol. I'm consistently stuck at c#-D#5!
  18. I mean all beginners sing with little confidence. When you breath, keep your chest "puffed" out a bit, and you should feel expansion in your belly, sides, and back (instead of your chest going out and in). Try to keep breath flow constant and even, and try to use as little air ad possible when singing.
  19. Checked out your songs. You sound like every other beginner. Is someone training you to sing, or are you learning by yourself? If you are training yourself, then you need to learn how to breath properly, and how to warm up. You have a pleasant tone to your voice, and even though you are singing these songs much much lower than the original artist, you seem to have a good ear.
  20. Nice range, and great sounding highs! But, lots of tuning issues. And the lows seem a bit unsupported. Overall, though, very nicely done.
