  1. Dans video is awesome! I love the "I am not going to do a video on how to sing like..." part... THAT is funny.
  2. I do 15 minutes of 5 tone lip trills and octave and a half lip trill arpeggios, then, the TVS foundation building stuff (30 minutes), then the TVS octave arpeggio headvoice workout (5 minutes to 10 minutes depending ), then SLS edge workout (5 minutes), then closure until I am tired - then warm down. All in all about an hour. Usually with no break. It seems like when I take a break, I lose the all the warm up stuff I did. Sometimes, I do this twice a day. Other times, I do it every other day. I seem to advance faster if I do things every other day, but when I skip a day, I feel guitly lol.
  3. Can you post a clip of pressed vocals vs unpressed?
  4. Twang is the narrowing of the eppiglotic funnel. Creates compression.
  5. I can not listed to mysel singing in real time and be objective about anything. I have to listen to my voice on playback . It never sounds the same. That is why it is easier for me to practice with a PA system than without. Of course, I sold all my gear so I am unable to do that at the moment..
  6. Perfect! That's what I expected. You can enunciate all the words just fine. Also, I am missing a few teeth myself lol.
  7. I asked about that because I want to hear your pronunciation of all the words while not singing. lol. I know, may sound like an odd request.
  8. I like that you are doing songs that go low lol. I would like to hear what it sounds like if you just say the lyrics to this song in your normal voice. As with Owens latest post, it sounds like the both of you are leveraging your tongue to the point of losing some pronunciation. I may be wrong, of course - I usually am! Other than that, I thought is was great for a practice run. Lots of feeling, and very little noticeable pitch flaws. You playing and singing at the same time, or did you sing over your guitar track?
  9. Other than some pitchyness, you brought some epic feeling with this one! Like, a Freedie/Neil Diamond epic kinda thing. I really liked it!
  10. Robert Lunte (owner of this forum) has a great program that will certainly help you. Dan Formica is great also. They both use Skype to teach, and Robert has an entire vocal program. If you want in person one on one lessons, their are a metric ton of teachers in the NYC area.
  11. This is actually a good easy to follow video. Check it out.
  12. Sometimes you can benefit from recording yourself doing your exercises. You hear things on the playback that you don't hear while doing them. Also, if what Owen stated is true, then you need some professional guidance strictly tailored to the problems you are having. There is an old saying: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results." If what you are doing isn't working, then do something else. At a glance at your problem, I would say your onset is not a good one, and if you don't start the note off right, then it will not end right. I suggest a skype lesson with either Rob or Dan - either can help you figure out whats going on.
  13. Are you able to record what is going on and post a clip? being able to hear it would help the people smart enough to help you :)
  14. Jonathon Davis had his wife chained to the drum riser the last time I saw him. (they are divorced now). He was an ass, At least to her lol. And she was HOOOOOOOT!
  15. I have never liked his voice, or his attitude.. Ever. I just can't get into "how great of a singer " he is, or was, because of it. A friend of mine worked for Show-co/Clair brothers for 16 years, and I would go see him whenever he was close to home. I met MANY pro singers during this time (most of them I stay in touch with on FB), and None of them were complete a$$holes like axl. Well, Jonathon Davis was a close second, but still. ..
  16. Towards the end of the workout I started to notice I was singing with some rasp, and I could feel the scratchiness.
  17. I totally haven't sang in months lol. I was so busy with school and stuff I couldn't. Only in the shower (lol)
