  1. I do not have audacity, and have never used it. But I have to think it works the same as most other programs. Make sure you are arming an empty track when you record. Make sure that when you sing into the mic at your loudest level, that the meter isnt clipping. You can mute the backing track and just play the vocal track - then you can hear your vocs enough to eq them. Do not eq the whole mix, just the track your voice is on. You're getting better, it's just going to take some time. I usually add a bit of EQ, a tiny amount of compression, and a tiny amount of reverb. If you download Cakewalk sonar 8 Pro , I can be a much greater help! I am sure there is a freeware version that has some limitations (like only 4 tracks instead of 64)
  2. Tommy, are you recording the vocals on a separate track then the backing track, or are you recording over the backing track on the same track?
  3. Input is mic input (what gets recorded). To get a good level on this, you should sing loud into the mic (like the loudest part of the song you are going to sing) and adjust the level so that the level meter is a touch below where the color turns red. Then, you use the track output level slider to adjust the volume ot the track(s) you have recorded. SOOOOO inout = mic(at the point in time you are singing) and OUTPUT = what you hear when you listen back.
  4. awesome, and already learning how to record. Next time, reduce input level, and increase output level as there are some distorted parts. A lower input volume should clear that right up. Then, you just use the output volume to bring it up in the mix.
  5. Holy crap, it sounds like alanis and halford had a love child sounds pretty Kewl man!
  6. You tone is pretty good here, but you are a touch pitchy-don't forget to support even when u r singing softly. Don't confuse support with power. I think I you support better in the soft notes, you will be dead on. Awesome song choice by the way!
  7. You can sing whatever genre you want to. There are a combination of things going on in the recording making it very difficult to really hear enough for me (personally) to critique you. Sounds like you are using a computer mic and somewhat overloading it. I suggest when recording yourself to use a real vocal mic - so that your voice gets reproduced properly. Your voice most likely sounds 100X better that this nrecording represents. The only critique I would have is to work on support on your lower notes.
  8. Awesome! Love you use of closed Bowles on the real high notes towards the end. Also, great vibrato !
  9. I can tell the high notes would have sounded good if your voice volume wasn't killing me mic. Check your email.
  10. Sounds pretty good man. I'd ditch some of the chorue effect because it is washing out the true sound of your voice. Great cover though.
  11. Also, it can cause super mega feedback in a live application lol - ask me all about that! :)
  12. Bravo dude! PS - You should turn your hat around - it causes some acoustic changes in your (or anyones) voice as it creates a resonant chamber that is usually not favorable to recording. Great performances none the less!
  13. Awesome, one of my favorate Queen songs, and you kicked it's but!
  14. Sounds great man. How the heck do you get the rasp way up there? When I try to add rasp to a note that high (or as close to that high as i can get) it feels like someone dumped razor blades down my throat lol. Certainly you are doing something right even to get up there .
  15. I use the audio box along with Cakewalk Sonar Producer Edition. Love the audiobox! Great sound! I love singing Bon Jovi, but only few of his songs are in my range. What do you use for recording software?
