  1. I delete that, Sorry , it was meant as a joke, but i realise im out of line. Even If someone take a piss at basses and calls them/ me laiers, its no excuse.
  2. You sound like a real bassexpert but never met one, Ok, i can be your Guineapig. But maybe its easier to just tell you. I can reach A1 and sometimes G1 rearly F1, easily sing in C2 without air. When i started my top note was G3 and it is also where my brake is, G3-A3. I dont force it, its just where my voice wants to be. I use tuned XD so its not imagination.
  3. Yeah your right Benny, many of the choirtenors couldnt reach high and the basses couldnt hit the lows (in warmup) They where probably baritons!
  4. I dont know how you count i Finland but its not supply were talking about its % Arent you 5,5 milj ? Its like over 100 000 basses... Btw. I talked to a opersinger in Stockholm he said Finland had a reputation of having many and good basses. I dont think tenors have ever been that many, on the contrary they where so rare and therefor highly regarded, if half the population could do it, whats the point?
  5. Thanks for the explanation! It cant be that unusual if 5% of all males are basses. I thought you had a lot of students Daniel😀 In a small town of 100 000 people 2500 could be basses if they chose to sing. Not as low as the black guy in the video but still a bass, and according to Wiki the range usually are E2-E4 and i think i understand about the timbre, i just wanted to hear a sample of how you categorise. The Juan guy is to much airy to sound like a real bass, i think. I visited several choirs some time ago and they had more problem to find tenors than basses even if the basses also wasnt to many. I dont think there is 40 % tenors out there, at least not here in the nothern part of the world. If there is a "natural bass" is there also a natural tenor? Is he a guy that naturally sings a C5? Thank god its about to change a bit again, nowadays you can hear a lot more guys with lower voices on the musicshannels, than just a couple of years ago.
  6. Could you please post an ex. of a bass that has that crazy low ringing and higher frequencies standing out? Most really low voices iv heard don't have that or is it just me not knowing what to listen for?
  7. I think thats a part of the problem for me, when i breath normally-not singing, i dont push all the air out for every breath, kind of lazy short breath usually in the upper part of my chest. And then i have to change it totally when i sing, it doesnt feel natural at all , for me. But i do agree, it feels "right" and it doesnt take a lot of effort. sometimes i think all the talking about support makes people think that its a hard job (like me) and overdo it, using to much force and not coordinated right.
  8. I dont have a clue, but isnt it 3 lyers of muscles in different directions? they are really strong, i use them a lot in crosscountry skiing since they are stronger than my triceps and shoulders, and dont get tired so quickly. When you suck your belly in or push out, isnt it the abdominal muscles that do the job?
  9. Thanks a lot James for learning me that low exercise. I dont have any problems to go low but i feel like its not as good as it was before i started to practice falsetto/headvoice, its more "dry" now. i hope it will get even better, than before, more nuanced, and with overtones. Thanks!
  10. One of the most comprehensive explanations iv found, you can find on jacklivigni.com, its two parts.
  11. Great singing, I tryed the support, worked great, iv never felt that kind of connection between upper and lower body before. Its a bit like Marnell talks about in a video, not so hard in solar plexus, more under it. A whole lot of my strain was gone, thanks for shareing.
  12. I already have it, and i havent used the lesson that came with it because of the slow internet iv had. :)
  13. Ok thanks Rob, i thought i wont use one lesson to try out and if its not working ok its wasted.
  14. Hi, i havent been able to take any Skype lessons because i dont live in a city, where they usually have fast internet connections. (Im like the guy that Rob mentioned in Four pillars, "lives in the forrest in Sweden". Nowadays its getting faster and faster so i would like to try it out. Im looking for someone in USA that can help me with that. So if you have 10 min to spare for a skypesession (not lesson) with me id be thankful.
  15. Swedish glögg recipe 2 pieces of whole cimarron 12 cloves 2 pieces of whole dryed ginger 1 teaspoon Cardamom seed 2 dryed pomerans peel 2 dl raisins 2-3 dl Absolut or similar Put all in a glassjar for 4 days and shake it twice a day. Drain into a pan and ad 2 bottles of redwine you like and 2dl of sugar Heat it up so the sugar melts but dont boil it. (If you dont want to wait, put all in a pan and warm it slowly-dont boil it, for 1 hour and drain it.) You can keep it in bottles for 3 months, if you dont drink it at once. Serve it warm and ad raisins and peeled almond. Serve it with gingerbread or pastry with saffron or both. For a low bass like me this is good for my throat when i try to find some headvoice :)
  16. Thanks, if you dont have glögg over there i can give you a recipe.
  17. Thanks Steven, We had our christmas gifts yesterday (24/12) a lot of food, herring, salmon, schrimps, paté, a big ham on the table, roedeer etc. etc typicall Swedish christmas smörgåsbord, with the family. We drink snaps and sing a lot of snapssongs. We have 14degrees (-10C) but not much snow, so skiing is not possible at the moment but a walk in the sunny day is nice, and drink of warm glögg and pastry with saffron after is good. It gets dark early this time of year around 14.00, and we light a candle for those who are not with us anymore at the cemetery, it looks nice with all the candles in the dark. Yesterday we saw 2 roedeers and later a moose with her calf. In those moments life feels good. Merry Christmas !
  18. Im a huge Queenfan ever since 1973 (i think) and i just love Freddies voice, and how he sings. And i must say i really like the way you sing his songs, amazing!
  19. People probably think differently about how "cry" should sound and try to imitate that, but i dont think iv seen anybody explain in words how to do these exercises. Is there a some kind of concensus how to do them?
  20. Thanks VIDEOHERE, yes that helped, good explanation.
  21. always try. don't relinquish to head voice by relaxing into it. VIDEOHERE Could you please explain this for me? BTW. Is there somewhere on the forum where i can find explanasions to the words that i cant find in a dictionary, that are special for this field? PS. Sorry for using your thread gandlethorp.
  22. Dont misunderstand me, i dont practise the lower range, because it messes up my high range and thats i guess is because im a newbe and dont have the tecnic. For me its more importent at the time to practice the higher parts to develop that part of the voice, the low parts i already have. And of course i could always do better there also tecnically and i guess i will do that in the future. One thing that iv noticed is that my low range has a more "full" tone than before iv practiced the high part. When i want to sing low i warm up low, and when i want to sing "high" i warm up high, some times i start high and the voice drops and i continue low, but never the opposite. Cant do that.
  23. Hi, i guess you are a bass yourself ? like me. Im not an expert so i cant answer your questions, i can only speak for myself and i think its interresting to compare and share some experience. Im a low bass, C2 is easy, on a good day its A1 and after i was sick i reached F1. I dont practise down there but i do warm it up. When i practise a lot in the upper ranges im not so comfortable in the lower and vice versa. Is it the same for you? Im not embarresed to sing low. From the start i couldnt otherwise, and i think its fun to be able to do something that others cant do. (not so many) I started to sing Leonard Cohen and Johnny Cash, iv never thought of Barry White. Iv listen to his songs and its not easy to imitate his style, what songs do you like of him? Have you listen to Josh Turners songs? The country guy, its good fun to sing them! And yes like Sun said its a bit boring to sing only low stuff, thats why i started to study the voice. I will have lessons so i can reach that "magic" C5 and hopefully more, today its a A4 on a good day. About the comfortrange, mine is app. F2 to E3, at G-A3 i have my first brake. Where is yours? To sing in "your natural" placement, isnt that a opinion from classical teachers? Id like to take the American approach on that "the sky is the limit":)
  24. Thanks for that answer, its a relief, so its not just me. And im not only kidding, i cant scream, and hardly even shout (before voicepractise) without my voice totally falling apart, iv espected that to give me some problems in the upper ranges. It gives me encuoragement to hear that you had the same "problem" and sorted it out. And yes i will have lessons for Robert, iv hit the "wall" and its time to go past it! Thanks again, you made my day!!
  25. I guess that would be best but i cant do that now. It sounds like falsetto without the air. Not disorted or raspy. I start really soft and quietly (subdued in english?) in pure head and then louder but the tone never get clear. Im sorry i cant explain better, ill get back with a sample when i can.
