  1. i mean it doesn't connect. i said that in my topic 'no bridge', i basically just have head and chest seperate, but head's rly weak and chest is rly strong. so i can do songs that have highs and lows but not in-betweens
  2. Who knows? I though the goal was to hit those low notes!
  3. Ah, sustaining low notes. I have experience with this though, as i used to try that tibetan style heart-sutra like chant mixed with overtone singing, not that tough, though I haven't tried it with those sounds. It's mainly the chords locking up that get me... same thing when i sing 'child in time' a few times by deep purple, one of the few songs i can do without a bridge, and after a good 3 times i can no longer hit that note without a few minutes break and vocal fry rehabilitation.
  4. So, I can almost do this intro, ive been working at it. YES IT IS FUNNY! hilarious actually, but damn, thats impressive. So i can get a good 15 seconds sustained, but them my head voice cracks, my chords close, and i cant hit the note anymore. Its damn high for me, any tips? **skip 0:35 if you wish **
  5. Low notes are very easy for me, and i can increase my range and make lower notes even easier. I remember one week after extensive practice i was able to go off the piano, but anyways, there are some tips i can give to maybe help you. From what it seems i do, these MIGHT help... Turn your head to the side (a little bit) , as if you're looking to somebody else, and maybe a little bit down. That usually helps me take fry and make it much fuller. Its as if it gives your larynx more room to drop... Another thing you want to do is take your low notes and make them as full as possible, just sustain them and try to find the best resonance you can. If you make it with enough ease, you shouldn't worry about having to hit it. But these might not help anyways, so good luck.
  6. I think i might be bass/baritone for sure, but yea i can get to c2 after practicing a bit, but it's very weak and is in no way useful. I was under the impression that the logical steps to 'mix' were 1.find head voice 2.bring it down 3.connect ...
  7. definately not connecting, i mean when i transition from head -> chest or chest -> head there is allways vocal fry and a very clear shift. It's very frustrating and I stopped trusting brett manning on the issue because his lessons say things like doing lip rolls will prevent you from going into falsetto but i allways enter falsetto with lip rolls.
  8. by C2 I mean american, very low. below middle C... i didnt know that, interesting! I will try what you say Jason, and get back to you.
  9. congrats, sounds like joe duplantier! ive been trying to figure that out forever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1rU2VMJtlw&feature=related **SKIP 0:35**
  10. Below are two tracks from my emerging band Tasavuh. I belt on both of them, and it works for the style, though i still allways work to progress in both the singing and guitar playing. You can hear my comfort range in both of these pretty much. You see with belting the higher notes sound classical ish... almost bruce dickenson like, except with a lower voice. http://soundcloud.com/adonfanion/throne http://soundcloud.com/adonfanion/missions-traveler-tasavuh You can like tasavuh on facebook. HEAD VOICE for me sounds exactly like when brett manning does it. it connects to whistle sometimes and it is a very light thing almost squeek, and yes i can get it down to C2, that may be hard to believe but i worked at it for quite a while. **EDIT** i apologize for the bad mixing, I'm still working on perfecting it, and these are earlier uploads.
  11. i'm a bass, I can bring my head voice down to C2 and up to... whatever that is in machine gunn eddie. Anyways, i've been working at it for at least 2 years and there's just no bridge, and no mixed voice. I've resorted to staying in belt but my belt can only go so high before it starts to sound very strained and i have to push intensely to sustain it. I've tried all the exercises for 'mix' or bridging, and done the whole laying on your back, leaning over, standing on your head, hanging upside down, whatever, i think i just dont have it, eh?
