  1. it sounds great and you cracked the most important part, being in key and pitch! you're spot on in that department. You sound a lot like MJ which is both cool and very hard to pull off. What you want to do is work on a mixture of MJ and the 'real' you! add a bit of grit, bring it down in places, push harder. Do whatever you can to sculpt it a little. I always say, once you know you can sing (which you can) and you know you can hit the right notes (which you can), then you can start to make your voice your 'bitch'. I'm a drummer also and its what I teach when teaching drums...you work at it, get the basics down and THEN your talent becomes your slave for expression. Keep at it, build your voice stronger and well done for having the balls to give it a go!
  2. Nice! Your voice has a really nice natural vibrato to it, you seem to have some pitch issues during a bit of the verse but the chorus is really nice. It seems like your voice is a lot stronger when your 'belting'. Don't try to do that lazy/mumble thing Cornell does, only he can pull that off ;-) aha. nice work bud.
  3. Hey guys! thought I'd post some stuff of my last 2 albums. I've already written a 3rd but we're rehearsing for a new tour at the moment so it probably wont be out till august or next year. I am working on a single to fundraise for cancer charity, so that should be out in a month or so. Hope you enjoy my work! I'm not the greatest singer, I just enjoy what I do. Nothing I do hurts my voice and I learned from mimicing other singers that I love. heres some samples of my work: http://soundcloud.com/russdiapper/russ-diapper-trust-me - the new single, heaviest track on the new album. http://soundcloud.com/russdiapper/russ- … n-of-a-gun - zztop tribute off the new CD, I play harmonica on this also http://soundcloud.com/russdiapper/russ- … -roxys-dad - one more song I forgot to post. funky track with some more funky harmonica and some little screams theres a nice falsetto note in the harmonica solo. http://soundcloud.com/russdiapper/russ- … -the-other - bit of a love song, bit of falsetto for good measure. http://soundcloud.com/russdiapper/russ-diapper-doomsday - a dark track. probably the next single. http://soundcloud.com/russdiapper/12-ru … nt-no-rich - track off the old album :-) www.russdiapper.com - https://www.facebook.com/TheRussDiapperBand
  4. Some singers get better with Age! Sammy Hagar's voice is always stellar. great post!
  5. Sounds crazy, but a good gruff scream and plenty of water gets rid of any early morning groggyness. Done many 7am sessions in the studio. Belt out some screams and just push out some notes as hard as you can, sounds obvious but clear your throat too :-) works for me.
