  1. Ok I understand better now that part of what you are teaching is how to condition the vocal track to allow more "space" so that transitions are easier. I was confused when you were using the vowels uh and i(sit) as the book I am reading does not list them as pure vowels or even vowels at this point. I now see the part of the video that says if you are doing italian vowels different rules may apply. no matter how straight forward you feel your video is there are always those of us beginners who will have questions thank you for answering me
  2. Yes for years I just sang in english(I was born in new orleans) as I would pronunciate when speaking the words and got by ok especially here in south america. recently I decided to study voice for the first time to make gains in my head voice of which I had never developed. there is so much more that needs to be addressed than just learning the pitches as it seems that notes with american vowel changes I can easily manipulate in chest voice just dont work as easily in head voice so I started to change to Italian vowels and am finaly making progress. I still dont have much volume in high head tones but everyday it seems to get better I am just 2 months in so I am happy with the progress so far.
  3. Yes I learned american english and spanish but now that I have discovered the use of the italian vowel pronunciations I must think in a different way when pronouncing words that I have used for years with american pronunciations. I have noticed that my words are much clearer and articulate especialy when recorded
  4. Ok, now am I to understand that dipthongs are all vowel modifications and there are various ways to transition so that pitch can be more easily maintained or to transition to a higher(lower) pitch more easily
  5. I watched the video again. I am new to the termanology but is vowel modification any vowel sound other than the pure vowels u, i, e, o. ah(frissels book).
  6. I do not fully understand what vowel modification is. I may not be hearing what I am supposed to but it seems like he is just changing from one vowel to another. Modification to me would imply that there would be the addition of the second vowel but still keep some form of the original vowel. I would like to record this into adobe auditions spectral analysis and see if I can tell if the formants for both vowels are there but I am not sure how to read the spectrogram. anyone know how to interpret the spectrogram
  7. Hey I put my tongue to the back of my teeth and it works great the vibration even seems to massage where I imaging my vocal cords to be. So back pressure is the reason why i want to do lip bubbles great. Now some more questions i am reading frissels baritone voice and although I am not very far in p34 I understand that there are now 2 registers and to exercise from top down is the best for someone trying to develop a head voice that can later be connected to chest voice. does this mean that i should do the lip bubbles from the top down and not ascend or can i ascend but keep everything in head voice. also when doing lip bubbles should i run all of the vowels( i know they are not supposed to be clear). I am trying to develop a more powerful head voice as my chest and what i thought was my middle register are comfortable to me but maybe not the best tone all the time although my pitch is good.
  8. Hello, when doing lip rolls I cant seem to make my lips roll without pulling my tongue to the back of my throat and I cant do tongue rolls at all. Is this proper technique it does not feel relaxed to me but I can hit the notes ok. Are lip rolls necessary or can I just keep my larnyx in the position as when I do the exercise and just hum the scales.
  9. Hello, I have been singing for a few years now and have decided to expand my knowledge by doing some of the vocal exercise workouts that are on youtube. My question is after I warm up my voice (this takes me about 15 minutes) how long should I do the vocal workouts for? one hour or more? should I go until my voice feels tired. I never have any pain, discomfort or hoarseness and am doing about 1 hour per day then I sing a few karaoke songs. I like doing the workouts and learning arppegios etc. and could do them for many hours daily but I dont want to overdo it. How long is good. Also how about frequency for example one hour in the morning one hour in the afternoon one hour at night or is it better to do it all at once one time a day. And how many days per week
