  1. Her voice is absolutely gorgeous and soooo emotive. The yodeling she does gives me shivers
  2. The doc (just regular doc, not an ENT) told me when I was sick that I had slight laryngitis. It's pretty much all gone now, but my head voice and voice in general is a little bit funky. I'll just probably take it easy for a couple more weeks or two
  3. Ok cool. Thanks for the advice. My voice has been pretty funky sounding/pitchy, so I'll just lay off from that part of my voice
  4. Hey yall, so I was sick with a sore throat and a tiny bit of laryngitis three weeks ago. My speaking voice was half gone during this time, and my head voice was completely gone. So I decided to take it easy and rest my voice until I got it back. A week later after that, my speaking voice was 100% back, and a tiny bit of my head voice was back. So, ok I thought, a little more rest would do. Fast forward to now, I have like half of my head voice back, but the upper ranges are still "shut" or "squeaky" (Air is coming through the cords, but there is not much adduction happening). Should I rest more? Or should I try to smooth out the upper parts with vocalizing? It's been kinda hard not doing much singing these past 3 weeks.
  5. Thanks for the input! I really appreciate it. Mainly on the volume bit, I'm not singing as loudly as I normally would right now because it's Sunday night in a dorm room (sitting on a bed too, so my support wasn't great either). But I do feel the closed down feeling on the scale and will definitely make it brighter. But how exactly do I stretch my chest voice thin at a low volume like I had? I feel like I need to make it louder in order to extend the chest voice (which might be shouting, but I'm not sure lol)
  6. Ok, I recorded a couple with my phone (and yay college dorm room). I'm still a beginner btw, so my pitch and control isn't that great yet. and a random siren while we're at it:
  7. Just wondering, but Robert always talks about how we should try to keep the embouchure wide and open with top teeth showing, but my jaw gets tired after a while. Am I forming my embouchure wrong or is my jaw muscles weak or something of that nature?
  8. So, the buzzy feeling in the nose when singing is not being nasal? I always assumed that it was a bad thing
  9. https://www.box.com/s/v2crcdxluo1x0g940dw8 I've been trying to learn how to sing for like a year now, and I've been reading a lot and experimenting and stuff. I'm not as bad as I was before, but my singing is still a bit subpar at the moment Critiques would be much appreciated
  10. Yes. This happens a lot when I'm doing cuperto
  11. A problem that I've been having lately is that it feels like my voice hits a wall and just closes when I hit a certain note on a scale (what note it was escapes me atm, but it's fairly into head voice), but no air comes out and it feels like my vocal cords are shut together. I've tried to lighten my voice, but i just hit that wall. If I try to put some more air into it, a sound eventually squeaks out, but the volumes much louder. Any help?
  12. You guys probably wouldn't like it, but the only audition program that I thought was very insightful was a korean one a friend showed me called kpop star (pretty cheesy, yeah). This one's different from a lot of other audition shows because the judges consists of 2 CEOs of korean entertainment companies and another singer. It's pretty entertaining Skip to 1:20 The first 5 episodes with english subs are here: http://kshowonline.com/?movie=/info/562/[engsub]-kpop-star-ep.1-5
  13. I honestly just went by the note on the piano, and the 2nd E after middle C. Maybe I just have a bad ear. And no, I don't really want a heavy metal scream territory. I want the note to have a definitive chest sound, but not too heavy like the clip I posted (I've been kinda experimenting with it a little bit)
  14. I'm a relatively new beginner btw The note is I think E5 on a vowel "ooh" as in food Forgive me for the quality, it's from my laptop https://www.box.com/s/2e81bebd07e81abedd44
  15. I've been having this problem lately. I'm able to resonate very well in a belt/heavy mix, but as I go higher, the resonance disappears (in full voice). It feels like there's a lid or ceiling inside my head and the sound is refusing to let go and feels trapped. My support is fine, my throat is open with a higher soft palate. I have no idea how to fix it, and I've been kinda experimenting with no avail
