  1. So I just did the first part. I'd love some advice on how to improve my vocal tone. I think it's so unpleasant tbh. I love to sing though, and so I'd like to get better. http://soundcloud.com/nathaniel-bilforth/me-singing-the-parting-glass
  2. Basically I'd just like your opinions on my vocal: the strengths, the weaknesses etc. I've always loved to sing. I don't want to be a professional singer, but I still want to improve my voice in every way possible. Here's a clip of me singing the chorus of Don't You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia: http://soundcloud.com/nathaniel-bilforth/me-singing-dont-you-worry It's just that every time I record myself singing, I can't help but feel disappointed when I play it back. It sounds like nothing beyond a "karaoke" voice. Nothing special about it. It's just kind of there... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I will always continue to practice simply because I just really enjoy it. But what do you think I need to work most on? :)
  3. Tell me what you think, guys. I didn't sing the whole song, only the first two verses and then the chorus. I only recently learned it so you'll find some liberties here and there. http://soundcloud.com/nathaniel-bilforth/me-singing-shelter-acapella What do I need to work on most?
  4. Hey, I was just wondering whether y'all could comment on my tone. Is it too strained on this chorus? How can I work on my tone to make it more resonant? I usually have more trouble when trying to project my voice, give it power and also accessing vibrato. Will this come with time or is it not there because my vocal cords are strained? I'm capable of using vibrato when singing in a lower volume and it's pretty free-flowing (I don't have to think about it really). http://soundcloud.com/nathaniel-bilforth/me-singing-dark-side-chorus Please bear in mind I'm an amateur singer and I know I'm not very good :P
  5. I agree with this person above me in that you can become used to singing in a lower volume, but once you have to project it, it can sound VERY different. Practice in a louder voice. I actually think your vocal is really similar to mine. We're not naturally gifted with a great tone, but if we work on it, we'll be able to reach an acceptable level. Good luck :D
  6. What, those lower notes are awesome . I'm a guy and I think the lowest note I can hit is a D3. Any advice for accessing my lower range, guys?
  7. I love your tone and vibrato. The breathing's just a bit strange, there's a little sigh after you release every note. Watch out for that. You're also straining on the higher notes, but just keep practicing and doing the right exercises. You're much better than I am so I don't know much advice I can really give you
  8. Hey there, I'm new on this forum. Not sure whether I'm good to go just posting a recording right away, but I was really hoping y'all could give me some feedback on my vocals. I am not the best singer in the world, far from it actually, but I really do love to sing. It's a little bit of an addiction, even though practically everyone has told me that my singing irritates them So any tips would be helpful. Here's my cover of Taylor Swift's Innocent. http://soundcloud.com/nathaniel-bilforth/me-singing-innocent-taylor Some things I was hoping to improve on: You might notice that I'm rather "breathy". One is because I have poor breath control, I find I lose my breath fairly quickly. How can I improve this? Two, I find myself trying to improve my tone (which I honestly don't like) and this causes me to use my breath excessively to support a note. Also, I find I can't sustain a note for more than a few seconds, high or low, without it kind of falling flat midway through. Anyone had this problem before. I feel more comfortable in my mid range then my lover register, but tell me how you think I did. And if you think I sucked, feel free to tell me. But please be constructive, because either way I'll be singing all the time.
