  1. That sounds really good, man. I'm usually not a big fan of too much "flutter" (idk what it's called, english is my second language) styles, where the singer changes the notes with great speed to add colour. To me it usually sounds sort of fake. However, there are a few exceptions and in your case I thoroughly enjoyed listening to every second and it just felt real. Definitely envy the agility you have.
  2. Pretty impressive I'd say. Nice pitch also. Does your throat feel sore after recording or can you sustain this for a while??
  3. I liked it. Great transitions from chest to head voice. I didn't really notice a lot of pitch problems. Only one or two cases. It sounded like you were a little out of breath at some of the higher parts, but that happens to almost everyone when singing Queen songs   I'd say overall you did a great job.
  4. One of my favorite AIC songs and I think you did pretty good. Pitch is good, I don't normally like airy falsettos but yours has a certain charm to it. Complements the chest voice nicely, but somehow I think you would sound even better if you added slightly more presence in the verses. That's just my opinion and if you asked me on the street, I'd say you have a good voice and could sing.   If I was at a bar and you were singing this song, I'd stay for more.
  5. Good job on a ridiculously difficult song! I just wish you had uploaded a longer version
  6. Good job! Agree with KillerKu. I'm slightly jelly of your vibrato
  7. Sounds fantastic man! Nice tone and emotion. I have nothing negative to say. Nice mix also.
  8. First of all, thanks for taking the time out of your day to(hopefully) listen to this. Second, I would be eternally grateful if you could leave a comment so I know what to improve on! Doesn't have to be long, either Thanks!
  9. This is recorded "as live", meaning I did 3 or 4 takes and spliced together the best bits. Thanks for listening and please tell me what you think needs improving! Here's the link:
  10. Not American, but I'd listen to his voice if I heard it on the radio :P
  11. Thanks guys! Geno, do you mean the words "mind" and "door" in the first verse for example? Where the note changes half-way through? Edit: I just listened to the original again and as a result, noticed the "rushing" of the words in my version! Cannot unhear .
  12. Props for having the balls to sing Dream Theater unprepared in front of a crowd. Some people say question LaBrie's vocal prowess, but songs like this one show you just how good he is. I think your voice is good. I think you have a decent resonance and range. Still, To me it sounds like you lose some support at the highest notes. It was also pitchy throughout. I'd like to hear a you sing something where you nail the pitch and then judge your overall sound :)
  13. Hey, Just wanted to say I liked it! Like you said yourself, those minor pitch issues would probably fix themselves if you devoted more time to the song.. But yeah, your voice goes very well with this song.
  14. I think you have a fantastic base to build on. Slightly pitchy at parts, but you have a special tone to your voice and with more training/practice I could see you sounding really, really great in the near future :)
  15. Thanks for the input fellas! Don't get me wrong, I like a good raspy voice very much. Chris Cornell (for example) is one of my all time favorites. It's just that I'd like to make it take less effort for me to sing that high(really high chest). I know it's hard to please everyone as a singer, but I'm just thinking about my future vocal health at the moment. I think I could make it sound better after working on that particular high range and making the notes flow freely before adding some rasp to give it style. Anyways, I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. about what MDEW said "Now instead of thinking high and thin to reach the note sing in your natural relaxed voice and see what happens."; My current problem is that when I try to sing it in my natural relaxed voice, I sort of just break into falsetto. I need to find a way to get higher(and hit all the right notes) with similar "fullness" but a little less strain. If you listen carefully to my version, it gets pitchy at some parts during the chorus. Because I'm not in complete control. It's just out of reach.. I want to be able to sing it without fear of messing up a word or 2 during the chorus because of instability. That is my goal at the moment Edit: About what you said about high notes sounding strained because you're anticipating them. This has happened to me(and most others I presume). But I'm thinking one way to get around that is to simply work towards strengthening the edge of one's range.
  16. I'm not even a big Beatles fan but It's hard not to like this, haha. You sound really good. Can't think of anything you should improve. Hell, if you'd been the lead singer of the Beatles I'd have listend to more of their songs by now
  17. Hey, thanks for the comment! This was done in 2 takes. I have to sit down when playing the guitar because currently I don't own a guitar strap Therefore I had to record the choruses standing up because I need all the breath support I can get for them. I got through them sitting down, but I thought they might sound better standing(which they did). This is what I use for recording: http://electronicmusictutorials.wordpress.com/2010/12/29/m-audio-fast-track-usb-mk2-review/ Came in a neat little package with ProTools SE(lite) included. Then I just have a shure sm58 with a pop filter plugged in along with my guitar:)
  18. Link: Hey guys. This one was more of a shirt vocal experiment than a proper cover, so I skipped all the cool guitar parts, because I can't play them... yet. I just really wanted to sing this song Like the title says, the chorus is a problem area for me. It sounds too strained for my liking, even though I like some parts. Especially in the second chorus. After recording I thought about doing a lot of scales around the chorus area for a few days and see if that helps, but any other ideas would be appreciated! My goal is to be able to whip out the guitar and sing songs like this one effortlessly...
  19. Sorry for not replying, I didn't have internet access for a few days! I'm baffled no one else has commented in this thread in the meantime. You sound great dude... Slightly pitchy at the end as you pointed out, but I think you have the foundation to build an epic voice on. Keep going!
  20. I really liked it. Would love to hear you sing through proper recording equipment! Imo, your high notes sound really good when you belt them. Sure, you have to use force to get that sound but it sounds really good. I'd say our vocal comfort zones are similar. Most Bruno Mars songs are just out of reach for me too... As Ron said, your voice sounds clean and full. It's really good mate. Keep going!
