  1. Nothing I could hear could be improved upon. Maybe just going back to the song and picking out better ways to attack certain parts. But who cares if I was to hear this live I would hug you.
  2. Psychotic. I love this song. Strong Falsetto. It's pure and clean. What mic were you using? You got strong prescence in your voice. Everything was on pitch that I heard. The end where you are vocally just trying to pound home some energy was fun to listen to you. You clearly got range. I think we probably use the method of singing.
  3. The link is no good. Could you repost. This is one of my favorite songs.
  4. Awesome Job there Rusty. Clean vocals man. Is that you playing guitar? First of all. I am a longtime fan of Chris Cornell and I love Soundgarden and the self titled Audioslave album. Chris was my main inspiritation. Your cover of this is great. I like the way hit the bottom of every note. Also I feel like you sing this song with a mode of deep understanding and passion for it. The way you contort the melody to your own style like the way you say "room" and the high notes on "Alone" toward the end. I think you need to use more of your natural timbre for it is excellent. I'm not saying you are not using it, nor am I saying you are trying to sound like someone else, but when I hear certain things I get the same kind bumps I get when I listen to Lennon sing. Good work. I'd love to do some Soundgarden covers with you.
  5. Currently listening. Great tone. Lots of strong notes. But there were times when I think that good sounding notes lacked power. But yeah at 3:04 was great. The finish was nice and on point, it gave nice amounts of energy at the end. I know want to cover this song. I think I could pull it off.
  6. Catchy. The ooh yeah yeah parts are rock solid. They could use a little more prescence. What mic are you using? For the most part on pitch. You have a good ear pitch its just a matter of vocal control after that and your control is 95 percent concrete. You do have a unique voice. Trying lying down and re-recording the parts you want to re-record. I find that lying down while I'm singing tends to help my higher notes sound better. But I could be crazy. A little more prescence maybe a little more vocal prescence and I would buy original songs you came out with. Best of luck I want to hear more from you
  7. This is my first time visiting this insanely long thread. I like the tone of your Voice. You got this good compressed sound whenever you sing words like "Tonight" Alas I don't have that kind of tone. On the bottom end of your scales it doesnt seem shallow in richness of tone, it's still good tone though but lacking Umph on those lower notes. But I don't consider myself an expert by any means. I like your songs keep it up. I want to hear more and more power come from you I know you can pull it off.
  8. I think your song writing skills are excellent. I would love to apply vocals for this. If you want a demo of what kind of music I do, I like ballads. please send me this track and lyrics. I would love to see what my version would sound like compared to keith's. If you have it in .wav format would be preferred. I really really would like to do this song for you. Great song. As for the singing though. It feels to me that you are constantly in a state of singing behind the nose in the middle of your head. You still have a good ear for proper pitch so don't worry about that. But with a more open less nasaly technique it would sound great. But again I would love to try this for you. *Edit** sorry forgot to include demo of me doing hallelujah https://soundcloud.com/#skyknight-1/hallelujah-m sor that you can judge for yourself if you like my styling.
  9. Thank you Ron. You are an asset here at themodernvocalist. Your input is direct and always helpful. You are busy like a bee on here. My voice didnt cooperate on a few spots. I hope the long high note wasn't too much. I have never taken voice lessons but your words of encourage even though you didnt mention anything about technique or vocal style has inspired me to seek out someone than can tame my voice. At the age of 25 about 36 days away from being 26 I feel like I am already old and its too late to accomplish anything if I have to start from the beginning. I make music for my own enjoyment. I always have. But thank you again. Your information and help is priceless Ron.
  10. Here is the link. This is my vocal cover done with a backing track. **Edit** Better link I have a soundcloud account now. https://soundcloud.com/#skyknight-1/hallelujah-m Thoughts??????????????????????????????
  11. I LOOOOOOOOOVE the vocals!!!!!!!!! I felt like the vocals were summoning the god Chris Cornell to bless this song. I'm excited to listen to these vocals. Great song writing also. I didnt notice any pitch problems that I could tell over the psychotic drumming and ripping guitar. My only thing is that I wish the vocals could cut through the mix just a tad more. Probably really doesnt meed much more than a little EQ play. I'm not even an amateur yet so take that with a grain of salt. I do consider myself having a good ear for eq and balancing though. I'm buying this album if there ever is one. Woot!
  12. I like the underlying grit that accompanies certain words like "Drown" and "Down". I dig the vocals a lot. Very bluesy rock. This is the kind of music I love. Smooth and on pitch very nice. You are a better singer than I am for this type of music in my opinion. I was really waiting for snarl or growl Billy Idol Style! But you never gave it . I think a breakdown at then end with the drums and nice OW! would be a nice touch. But that's just me and I have no idea what the hell I'm doing with music. I want to hear more from you guys rock on!
  13. Hey everyone it's me again. I got a new vocal for you. This is more a less a test for the mic and preamp I just bought but a critique on my singing would be helpful also. https://www.dropbox.com/s/f5khoi5k0crnll9/03-130116_2035.wav I just bought a preamp/computer interface and am testing it out. The Gear - An MXL/MCA SP1. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VP9VI8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 An Art USB DualPre project series preamp/interface http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002KEAT78/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00 The software I am using for recording is Reaper. I love the interface and workflow. The song/melody/lyrics were all made up on the fly at that very instant. I picked a pitch and went with it. Very slight reverb was added nothing special. If you'd like a sample without the reverb let me know. So far I am happy with the low noise. This is done in my bedroom with my powerful computer's ambiance running in the background lol so I'm surprised it did as well as it did. I'm just starting out with recording and I didnt want to invest a lot into quality equipment until I can learn to get the most out of cheaper gear. So far I like the results. I just noticed the sample you got was done without the preamp on. Any of you pros out there are welcome to comment.
