  1. Should you breathe in, immediately close the chords, and then sing.
  2. Hi, my name's John and I'm 16 years old. I recently bought Pillars 2.5. The problem is, I'm having a hard time understanding it. I know everyone recommends buying Skype lessons, but we can't afford them right now. In a few months, when it's my birthday, I'll be able to buy the lessons but for now, I can't. So I was wondering if there's anybody willing to help me understand the program. I have a TON of questions and I'm like so confused. I'm like misinterpreting every single word and sentence. Is there anyone, who has Pillars, willing to answer my questions through email? I know that Robert wouldn't like me posting all this valuable info from the book on this forum.
  3. Ok, Thanks for explaining. And I emailed you questions but you said you were busy and that I'm going to have to buy skype lessons. And I have to wait until my birthday to buy skype lessons. So I decided to post on here my questions about Pillars. - While singing, should you feel the air coming out? Or should you hold your breath? - How do you balance your support? Are you referring to the flex from the hut exercise? - How do you know which tongue position to use? The leverage one or open throat one? If I want to sound bright and sing pop music, which would I use? - So there's never "one" placement? This rock vocal coach told me the placement should always be on the forehead. Could someone answer these very briefly and easy to understand?
  4. So closing the chords isn't something to do while singing?
  5. What do these mean? - unbalanced respiration - resonant placement is not deep enough - The higher the pitch, the deeper the placement
  6. Should you close the chords before you sing? So you breathe in, close the chords, and then sing? What's the difference between compression and adduction and how do you achieve both?
  7. Should you shape the words and enunciate? Should you have a relaxed and curved tongue while singing? Should you take a low and deep breathe through the mouth and then flex your abs slightly?
  8. I still don't understand. So twang shouldn't be forced??? Also could anyone answer my placement question?
  9. No matter what I do, it sounds nasal and bad? Is there a certain feeling or sound I should hear? Should twang only be used on high notes? Also, where should the placement be? I don't understand: "THE HIGHER THE PITCH,, THE DEEPER THE PLACEMENT" in Pillars.
  10. Book. But it lays them out like a a checklist and "show teeth" and snake lips" are separate. So they must be different?
  11. Can somebody with Pillars answer this question briefly? - What does snake lips mean?
  12. Is relaxing the tongue all I need to do? Or should I slightly concave it or push it against my teeth?
  13. What about Roger Burnley's SMS 2.0?
  14. And people like Bruno Mars?
  15. Do singers like Sam Tsui use SLS techniques? This guy at Singing Success said he does?
