  1. I just got into the THE ULTIMATE SINGER-SONGWRITER CONTEST at Waltz Waltz-Astoria this month. This is the video I submitted. Wish me luck! And any tips would be great! Thanks! How do I embed a video? haha
  2. Here is an update of the song I am working on. It's still not really finished of course, but I wanted to post the lead singer (me) and the Kalimba so I can get some opinions on the vocals. Thank you. https://app.box.com/files/0/f/0/1/f_9667980193
  3. I'm going to do this, breaking it down like this will help me figure out the right notes for sure thanks.
  4. Thanks man! I have a problem with hitting low notes when they end a phrase. It's as if I think all the endings "should end on a high note." haha But seriously, even my vocal coach tells me that it's a all about knowing the note and being mindful of it because after all it should be easier to hit the lower note. This is something I'm glad you brought to my attention thanks. Can anyone suggests any exercises that help with this?
  5. Thanks will do. Any notes on the singing? I'm thinking of singing it in a little more of a natural voice at the beginning of phrases (not so much light mass phonation the whole time) so when I go to the higher notes it will sound more dynamic.
  6. Thanks for listening! I'm glad you like it, I think it can be great too. I will try that with the Lyrics, I do agree some parts can be written better so I will have to sing it and try different things. (2) Yes, this is just a verse and chorus. Thanks again.
  7. I just started to write this song so this is me just running tru it, please note that the lyrics and melody are a work in progress and I do of course intend to finish it. I just want some tips on the singing. Thanks for your reviews/critiques. All tips and insight are appreciated, good or bad. Thanks again! https://app.box.com/s/gydcy152gr9v8u8v6gxw Lyrics: Song - More to Me Most people think There’s not much more to me Than what you see And that’s how I want it to be Honestly When we first met You thought I was like Everybody No more to see That way you don’t look to deep That’s how I know you never knew me Before you forget me I want you to know There’s more to me Before you forget me I want you to know I need you to know! There’s more to me More to me More to me Than what you've seen
  8. Check out this video of me playing the Kalimba and singing with my friend. This was at a Open mic in Williamsburg, Brooklyn NY. Anyone know how to embed video lol
  9. Thanks Ronws! I'm going to the studio in a few hours I'll post what I come up with when I'm done.
  10. :)This Sunday I will be recording this song I wrote called "Blue Moon" in the studio. This is a video of me a few moment ago singing it. Please critique my singing. Any tips or advice would be great! Also let me know if you think I should get a drummer or just keep it as is. Thanks! "BLUE MOON" Lyrics Beautiful day And here comes his reckoning Every dog has his day So who knows what he did That’s easy to say When its not you on the floor I saw them driving away With the last, of the worst, I ever saw Blue Moon Shot that poor man down Blue Moon Bang! Bang! That can’t be right! To this day I wonder why he was put away Rolling right on though I know they got the right guy Changing lives By killing guys In a van that’s blue So parents said “Hey kids, this aint no home for you” Blue Moon Shot that poor man down Blue Moon Bang! Bang! That can’t be right!
  11. :cool:Thank you everyone for listening this was 10 months ago and I have a vocal coach now so I’m working on getting better, that’s why I’m here too lol. I have a few general questions from everyone’s comments, there not sarcastic I just really don't know much about music theory so bare with me. I don’t understand how I can I be singing in tune yet have pitch problems, can anyone elaborate? And if I am in tune I guess I have to work on my volume and just singing out, which comes with getting control by training? @FelipeCarvalho Thanks for listening, what do you mean low placed? I’m singing too low or putting to much pressure on my vocals so I strain? Please elaborate so I can work on it thanks again! @JustinOthersinger Thanks man I tried it! I will work on it and I have sent you an email so you could send me some clips. I never noticed but your right when I strain, which Is often, you can see it in my eyebrows. @guitargeorge, thanks George, what do mean I have to start with basics, do you mean I have to sing more and I’m using too much breathy character kind of thing? Thanks again everyone!
