  1. Thank you so much for the help here! I tried to sing the first part of the song.. I wonder if I sing the whole thing Curbing? Coz when I sing lower notes I feel my power is disappearing. Also I stand about 1.5m from the iPhone mic whb I recorded it. https://m.soundcloud.com/smoothoperator-cvoice/10-january-2014-14-25-38 I do need to make sure I start with a non-constricted glottal attack, that's where I also can control my voice a bit better.. How do I improve and make my voice sound fuller in lower notes? Do I do something to my Curbing or learn to do overdrive? I want it to have a thicker sound, not nessesarily louder, but more speechy? Thanks for helping me guys x
  2. 1. Correct breath and support maintenance. 2. Relevant twang. And in my belief if she gone thru the passagio then she simply just had the right setup for transition using mix voice.
  3. Sls from my experience didn't work for me.. I have more success in learning singig techniques trough singing songs.. Scales are good to do as warm ups etc.. Well for me it is :)
  4. Hi all! Thank you ever so much for all the help and sorry for writing too late here.. Well to chrisjohnsonvocalcoach.. I do find that I need to sort of find chest voice so I don't "crack" when I sort of sing certain words or pitches. What I found out is to actually try to sort of focus my sound into the nose, which I think you guys refer as twang, and also do that uh sound, which I need to do it carefully.. Coz if I try do the uh sound and forgettin to twang, I end up pull chest voice! Dunno if it makes sense..? But when I get the chest voice right I can feel how the higher pitches also get into the right place as well! I learned also something from my teacher called "hold". It's like when I breathe in and sing a phrase, and I still have quiet some air left before next phrase, but the support muscles needs to be loosened up, I simply just let the stomach out, and activate my support muscles again and continue the phrase! This has helped me a lot to improve my singing as well! But what i do still is forgettin to breathe in air when I actually need air! Just wanted to share this coz when u drop out your stomach muscles, you open your mouth naturally and some air will come in, but you don't breathe in really! Really good tool and I'm leaning this to become natural becoz it's like saving my singing! Anyway! I will stay focused! cheers guys
  5. Phil, Thank you ever so much for ya help! I think what you just said is what my coach is gonna sort me out wit. The chest voice I mean. Vowel modification? What is that?
  6. You mention that when you inhale and expand all around is all you need to get the right support.. So is it then possible that when doing the right inhalation, by means that the abdomen muscles relax, the right support muscles will activate automatically?
  7. Hi everyone.. This was quiet load of messages.. I'm afraid I caused this sort of debate or whatever u wanna call it.. But for me voc Technique is a matter of guidance to the right direction of using the voice as healthy as possible.. This whole thing about being natural can be very misleading,. To me.. I might make a sound unconsciously when I talk with the right voice quality or mode, that would give me maybe the right power if I'd also control it in singing.. People use to say, sing as u talk, but in my opinion, it's a bit daft coz we don't control our diaphragm or airflow all the time, however it becomes naturally for experience singers, which makes sense if they say singing is as easy as talking.. and we use different voice settings that we maybe don't use in everyday life talking.. Singing is purely a human musical instrument.. And when someone says natural to me, it means to me what the voice can do NOW.. We are natural all the time.. Please tell me if I'm not right or don't make sense.. But to me it's also all in the head.. At the end of the day my own brain is gonna tell me what to do with my voice, and the teacher is the guidance of telling me what to do to get things right.. And I'm asking you guys for advice.. Thank you for all :)
  8. I don't understand.. I'm trying to learn to sound more intensity in my voice.. I have no power in my voice when I try to sing pop rock and rnb songs..
  9. Hi and thank u ever so much for all the information and the clips! Am not home atm but what am I singing in my clips? So I will check the videos once I'm home and see what I understand from it :)
  10. Hi everybody! For a couple of months I had a problem with my throat and my tongue! I'm gonna make it very simple. So my problems are following: I find it difficult to talk and articulate sometimes. It feels heavy and my tongue gets really tight sometimes, so tight I end up "swallowing the tongue" and sound "muffly". Also when I swallow, I sometimes feels like something's or my larynx is moving like it gets "stuck" than it "pops" and releases to its normal position. My tongue feels so tight, that sometimes it feels like it narrows my Throat and I need to take out my tongue and stretch it.. And I will feel better. I like release the tightness but it will soon come back! I been to an ENT 2 months ago and he said that I have something that is like acid coming up? But would that gimme those symptoms that I have? I am a singer and I do improve techniqually but when I wanna sing with words, I find it very hard to articulate and my throat gets tight and I end up squeezing.. I'm still in the process to sing through my passagio, and I just got a grip of it! I go to a singing teacher. Does anyone know anything about my tongue/throat problems? Does anyone know what causes me this? It's been for soon a year. I been having this after I first time had so called laryngitis. I didn't get cured but it happened after that! Hope to hear from ya :-)
