  1. Hello all. This is my first attempt at being a one man quartet. I was asked to interpret this song and decided to go this route. It also let's me display a bit of my vocal range. Looking for some honest feedback on the overall interpretation AND the mix. *It seems to sound better through monitor speakers or headphones but you tell me. Thanks.
  2. Hello MIB, You have a good vocal foundation but as you said...you were off and in several places. My question is this...if you can hear that you are off, why not take the time to correct your pitches and do a good take on this song? If you can do better...than do better. That's my take.
  3. Thank you Gilad! I really appreciate your kind words. I do have a video of my "Basso" range just to give people an idea of my abilities. I started at a low F (can hit a lower E on some days) and worked up 4 octaves to a high F. I think that gives me plenty of room to justify my claim of having a 3 octave singing range. I plan of showcasing my higher registers in future videos so feel free to subscribe and YouTube will always notify you when that occurs. As for the reading parts I heard...I'd rather not point those out because in the end, it's really irrelevant although I was obviously right (smile). Let me just say that when you know- that you know- that you know the lyrics to a song...you have unlimited freedom to express it and dress it any way you so desire and it will never sound like you're reading. Never. peace E
  4. Hi Gilad, I think you have a very "pure" voice. Very nice. When I started singing Italian and German arias, I noticed that my tongue somehow navigated the English language in a much smoother way. I consider it a by-product of the extra work it had to do in pronouncing those foreign words. Since then, I can hear that same smooth fluidity in the voice of anyone who speaks or sings English as a second language such as yourself. I've actually developed a couple of exercises singing Italian or German phrases in preparation of singing an English song. Anyway...I encourage you to keep singing just as you are and "not" try to achieve a "perfect" English sound. Your natural accent is what makes it uniquely yours. Concentrate on the basics...breathing, etc.. My only critique is that in a few spots, it sounded like you were reading. Even if you were, you don't want it to sound like you are. That's my take, hope it helps. peace E
  5. Hi Bubbly, If you desire to be a "Tribute Singer" to Beyoncé then the key is to mimic her singing in every way i.e. inflections, phrasing, accent, coloring, facial expressions, etc.. I'm not sure if that is what you were attempting or not. If you just happen to "sound like" Beyoncé, that's a bit different. Voices are like fingerprints...though they may be similar, they are all unique in their own way. In that case I suggest showcasing the uniqueness of "your" voice. Convey the meaning of the song as you would feel it. Tell the story the way you would tell it. That's how you make a song your own. That is what becomes "your" interpretation. Once you decide which of the two you are...record the song again and re-post so you can get accurate feedback for exactly what you are doing....mimicking Beyoncé or introducing us to YOU. That's my take Eric
  6. Hi Binny, As I listened to your voice, I couldn't help thinking of Audrey Hepburn singing Moon River. You don't need to sound any certain age...even your own. These days, you don't even have to sound "good" really but you do need to be confident in whatever your skill level is. Of course practice. Of course try to improve at every level but in the end...there's a niche for every voice willing to put it out there in song. There are several "free" vocal exercises and even some decent lessons that can be found on YouTube. Do the work and eventually the rewards will follow. Believe in yourself even when others don't. Follow your desire to sing if that is your passion. Don't seek to be famous yet seek to please your audience with "your" interpretations. Learn your voice and it's limits and capabilities then choose songs that showcase those capabilities. That's my take...hope it helps Eric
  7. Hmmm...I know of the opera but I've never sang anything from it. At the time it came out, I remember it being very controversial. I don't know it enough to know if it's sacrilegious or not but that was a cool clip and I could definitely give that part or that song at least...some new life. Who knows, I may get a call someday from a producer asking me to try for the part. lol!! We'll see.
  8. My Father is a Bass but my voice surpassed his some years ago in richness, depth and resonance. My voice changed when I was 12 and dropped right to the floor. I didn't go through the wavering rollercoaster vocal change that I guess most boys experience. It has been somewhat of a spectacle ever since. It's funny you say it's genetically scarce because while singing in High School Chorus and other Choral events throughout my life...I've had Directors and vocal professionals alike make that same assessment. Like everyone else...my voice will continue to drop a bit as I get older. I'm just hoping I still have the ability to put it to good vocal use when that happens. Thanks for the support!
  9. lol! Adon...I think great music and songs encompass all ranges. We each just have to do the best we can with our part so the whole comes together to make beautiful results. That being said...It is great to be a Bass!! lol!! Really though...it took me a long time to embrace it myself because I wasn't given the freedom to use my entire voice because everyone immediately stuck me in my "bass box". I've since liberated my voice and work to perform any piece of music I like regardless of what voice it was written for. I think I'm one of few if any Bassos to record Nessun Dorma. (see my YouTube Channel) but anyway...I just wanted to share this video showing my range sample. ps...that's a very cool technique you display on sound cloud!
  10. Thanks for the kind words...it got me charged to do another. I hope you enjoy it as well.
  11. Hello all, I'd like to get some feedback from other singers and song stylists on having more feeling and expression when I sing. My natural style is pretty "dead-face" but I do try to convey genuine feeling through my voice. Feel free to comment directly on YouTube video. Thanks.
