  1. Hi all, Here's a cover I'm doing just for fun (good backtrack, makes it sound much better): https://soundcloud.com/bruno-80/glory-of-sacred-truth-vocal-cover Any comments will be much appreciated Cheers
  2. I really don't think that the voice type it's important outside classical music. And it is not only the range that determines the voice type there, it's also the tone, which is completely irrelevant in the popular scenario. Some singers have a pretty strange voice and do some success, like Bob Dylan. There are so many variables that makes somebody successful or not. But there are key things that I believe makes a difference: your will, creativity and luck. If you have the will to carry on, can create or interpret music that people enjoy, if you have charisma, if you have luck to know the right people, etc, it doesn't matter if you are bass, baritone, tenor. The contrary is also true: if you don't have those things, it doesn't matter your voice type. Also, if your only aim to sing is to be successful, you are already loosing the battle before starting. People sing because they like to do it, they don't think: is it worth to sing or not? And they don't ask because they like doing it, they already have the feedback they need to keep going on, that's happiness. Related to low voices that made success, without thinking too much I just give you one name: Johnny Cash. Your sound is offline. Cheers.
  3. My highest note, that I can produce with confort now it's E5, not far from what you do. And your voice is way deeper than mine, so it's really good, I think.
  4. No, it is not. If you feel tired, stop. I think you are feeling tired because of your lack of breath support, you are trying to compesate that with your neck muscles, which leads to fatigue. If you can't improve by your own, I think you should really consider a vocal coach. Cheers.
  5. Hi Keith, I also liked your voice. As you said, it's a work in progress, there are some cracking issues and some minor tuning ones too. Also, your voice is way too high compared to the back track. If that's on purpose so we can better analyse your voice, you got it. If not, I would like to hear the song with a better equalization. What I think it's curious about your voice is that, after G4 (I think) your tone changes, you sound much more breathy, sometimes even harsh. Did you notice that? Maybe that's the key for your cracks. To be true, I think it's not bad to hear that, I even liked it a little bit. But only if that's something natural you have, and also if you could remove it a little bit. Cheers.
  6. Hi Ronws, It seems you recorded both guitar and voice at the same time right? I think that it would be a good idea to record them one at a time and use a compressor in your voice I can feel that you really enjoy the music while singing. That's really fun to hear. I was just thinking about the high parts. It seems you are being sloppy there, like, it doesn't matter how it sounds, I just want to have fun. But I think it's a good thing for this music anyway. Cheers.
  7. Hi David, Congratulations, it's you playing and singing? Great guitars, echoed here. Nice voice too, some really small tuning issues, but they are almost unnoticeable. I think that the singer (not sure if it was you) really got into the music. You have the lyrics anywhere? Couldn't understand some parts (I am not a native or great at understanding english). Great sound overall, congrats again. Cheers.
  8. Ambition, I think you have two major issues: you don't know you are out of tune and emission. You are not singing, you are talking, and in a really shy way. I got the impression you are almost lazy doing the exercices and specially singing the songs. Maybe the mouse clicks also influence in my perception that you are not paying too much attention. Practice and sing with an instrument, or a back track. I think it will be easier for you to listen you are out of tune. The scales you do, do it first with any instrument, it can be a virtual one. You just need to start exercising your perception. About the emission, if you were practicing and the other residents of you house or even neighbors (if you live in an apartment) didn't notice that, than you're probably not emitting your voice properly. It's not screaming, but it's more than talking. You need to create some air compression below your vocal folds and keep it while singing. The lip rows are a great exercise to start practicing your breath control and give you the sensation on how to use air in an efficient way. Also, they usually avoid you doing too much tension. Note that you can't stand more than a few seconds doing it. That's wrong, and that happens because you let too much air to escape. Without being capable of controlling the amount of air you use, you will never be able to create the compression you need to sing. So, my advice is to focus on lip rows. You should be able to do that for more than a few seconds. Also, stand up while practicing. You need space to retrieve air, expand your back, your stomach, and a little bit your chest. Don't practice while sitting down, that's inefficient and it will not help you. I hope those tips are useful. Good luck.
  9. Thanks for your comments Keith. Yes, lots of tuning issues, I will keep practicing this one. About the unsupported lows, I think you're right. I have a hard time singing low and mid. I think that everyone, specially doing the passagios. Highs are more natural to me, after high B I feel I can go on without having to change much. Glad you liked even with the issues you pointed. Cheers.
  10. Hi all, This one was hard to sing, but I think I've got something. Still some tuning issues, but I will keep practicing it to improve it. What do you think? Thanks for your feedback. Cheers.
  11. Thanks Jugulator. You're right, vibrato is difficult to me. Your vibrato comes naturally or you had to emulate it in someway? Thanks again.
  12. Hi guys, It's been a while since I am practicing this song. It is far from perfect, but now it reached to a point where I am not embarassed to show. I still have too much difficulty in keep saying the words clearly while singing that high. I think you will notice. Of course, I am not native english speaker, but my spoken english isn't that bad. What's the best way to improve that? Thanks for your attention, Bruno
  13. Man, if you are serious, stop doing that. You are just yelling and pushing your voice, it's not healthy. You don't have to squeeze your voice to go higher, other the contrary, you have to release it, relax. Try to get lessons from a vocal coach and you will understand better both the techniques and your voice. Regards.
  14. DJDeth I think I know what is happening. I can get some vibrato in exercices, producing notes very relaxed. But not all the time, and absolutely not when singing a music. I think it's really just a matter of not supporting well my voice and not relaxing. If I can I will record one of those vibratos and post here. Jugulator Thanks man. You're right. I have some problems with the lower parts, I think that's just a problem with supporting well the voice. By the way, your covers are awesome. :P
  15. I also liked it. There was some minor problems with pitch. If you correct those it will be perfect.
