  1. Awesome cover of an awesome modern Maiden song. Great job Felipe.
  2. Felipe, I am a huge Angra fan and love all 3 of the band. Anything Andre Matos sings is usually in the high range and sounds really difficult. With that being said, this was an amazing cover of a really tough song. You did an outstanding job.
  3. Yes, this is the acoustic version, which is shortened. I agree, the "minutes go round and round" part is cool! Yes, I can! Although the adduction is not very good. There are some samples on my soundcloud account... the ones that sound more full are the belted ones: All "heady" placements, although not as connected as they need to be: Belt vs Head The Passagio Sirens are all belty: These are all belty head tones:
  4. Thanks for the feedback and kind words... I am practicing, always trying to get better.
  5. Definitely, this is something I've had issues with from the start with regards to the pitchyness. I need to train a cue with a phonation. Thanks for the compliment regarding my timbre (although Rebirth is an Edu Falaschi song ). Andre Matos is one of my major influences. I do try to hear the music as I sing, but yeah, my throat isn't cooperating. Thanks for the feedback!
  6. Hi all, Decided to do a classic Angra song, acapella. Any constructive feedback is welcome. I kept it light mostly, but there are some covered belts as well. Definitely pitchy, but I'm working on it.
  7. 1. Does Johnny Cash count as Country? 2. How about Marty Robbins? El Paso?
  8. Could you record that and post it? I plan to do another take will a little less mass in a few days. I'll be sure to post it in this thread when I get a chance.
  9. Thanks for the feedback Sexy Beast. I noticed after practicing a bit more in the car that I can definitely sing this with lighter mass. This rendition was too heavy giving it the shouting quality you described. I think it can still be medium mass and belty, but not sound like shouting. Thanks again!
  10. I gave 1 vote to each except country. I was thinking if we go with pop, the song Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush would be a great head voice test for all. Maybe a Journey or Steve Perry song would be cool too. For Gospel, the only songs I know are "Michael row the boat ashore" and "Movin on up" from the Jeffersons theme. Those could be cool as well.
  11. Killer, thanks for the feedback again. I will definitely work on my pitch.
  12. I have my headphones plugged into the audio interface and there is a knob: on one end there's "input" and another there's "feedback". For this song I had it mostly turned to Input.
  13. Ok thanks guys! Yes, I am definitely out of pitch, that should be my main focus. I am kind of up and down like Killer said. Need to train my ears better.
  14. Killer, thanks for taking the time to give feedback. As far as the blasting chest comment goes, I was looking for a belty style like Bruce for this song. I went with a more late bridging medium mass approach. I didn't feel any strain and it was resonant so I went with it. What do you mean by too sustained? And "it will have to be closer" ?
  15. Cover song of Iron Maiden, I think this one is pretty good, a bit flat in some spots... but overall a decent effort: https://soundcloud.com/jabroni-1/the-evil-that-men-do
  16. Nice take, GSoul! It sounds like you used a lighter registration, very cool. It has a nice groove to it.
  17. Round 2, different takes and I think it's a better mix too. I'm still using mostly presets since I don't know what the knobs do : https://soundcloud.com/jabroni-1/highway-star-take-2 By the way, here's the original vocals for the song as well as the organ track... I noticed there are a nice chain of effects there. I think it helps to hear the vocals without the other instruments to hear what effects are used.
  18. Does anyone know where to find a backing track for this? I looked on karaoke version and amazon but came up short.
  19. I practiced a bit afterward, and I think I just need to be closer to the mic. As far as pitch goes, it's definitely off-pitch, so I'll try to work on that tomorrow. I think I'll just do a completely new take and work on compressing and balancing the volume. I think I understand now how a good mix and master can go a long way on bringing out the best in one's voice. Thanks for giving it a listen ron and MDEW!
