  1. Definitely find people that celebrates you. I recently posted two of my singing videos on YouTube and I got shot down hard. My confidence went down to say the least. Still trying to get up from it actually.
  2. I'm on a similar boat but I refuse to take ppi's. ATM I'm fixing up my diet and taking HCL w/pepsin and digestive enzymes. I'm trying to fix the root of the problem and encourage those to do the same as well.
  3. Oops, my apology. Vegan was it? I usually get organic and vegan mixed up! Nevertheless, I have threw away my chocolate peanut butter, chocolate ice cream, limit food at night, and cut back carbs. I also came across this helpful article http://chriskresser.com/get-rid-of-heartburn-and-gerd-forever-in-three-simple-steps. Like many mentioned in this thread, I'm drinking ginger boiled water and lemon juice. I've also stopped taking omeprazole since I want to fix the root of the problem. I will likely buy HCL w/pepsin.
  4. Edit: Also Bob, I'm taking your advice from the second page and trying to lose weight. Can't hurt to lose a few pounds. Got a gut I'd like to not see either lol.
  5. It does, but nothing horrible tasting. I don't think I'll see my ENT anymore, cost me half a grand to see him twice. The TMV members on here were right about my condition, it was inflammation caused by GERD. I know Phil told me to eat organic, so I'm giving that a go. Also drinking ginger before eating as we speak. I've had this condition for 4 months now, crossing my that this will be the end.
  6. Great thread, I went through my ENT and they prescribed me what everyone mentioned in this thread. It seems like cutting chocolate/coffee is one of the solution, I'll give that I go. One other question, when I burp and feel some food coming up, is that a sign of GERD as well?
  7. Thanks for the reassurance guys. It's been 3 months since this inflammation and by far the longest I've gone without singing (before starting seriously). I'll start doing small vocalizing after my folds heals a bit more, my voice still cracks when I talk sometimes. I'll tell you one thing though, I miss doing lip rolls, something that I used to not look forward to doing. This downtime definitely made me appreciate music even more.
  8. I just went back today. Honestly, I think this will be my last visit since it's just too costly to see my Dr. Apparently I still have inflammation and this time he prescribed me 4 kinds of medicine: fluticasone propionate fexofenadine hcl clarithromycin omeprazole Out of those 4, only omeprazole is the one used to treat GERD. Clarithromycin is something related for the throat, so I'll use that too, but I feel like my Dr is trying to squeeze out as much money as possible. I asked him why I had GERD all of a sudden and he said it was from stress. (which I have been going through for the past few months) I was also sick when I saw him, so that's likely why he prescribed me 4 medicine, but I want to stay away from using medicine as much as possible. Did any of you who had GERD were told to be on 2 or more medicines? I just hope this will end my inflammation, last month has been very depressing for me Felt like I lost my identity.
  9. I asked him for pictures or video but he said he didn't have it since it wasn't recorded. I'm currently on methylpredsolone and azithromycin
  10. Not that I know of, it was from the yelling that I did.
  11. Hi guys, just wanted to update you all. After waiting to find an ENT around my area (had to wait for a month!) The Dr told me today that I have no nodules burn still have inflammation. On medication atm. Disheartening to say, I was told to lay off the vocalizing for a month. Really glad that some of you suggest I go see an ENT. Thanks guys.
  12. Ah ok, I see what you mean. Will definitely be more conscious about it, thanks!
  13. Ah so it's sounding flat per say? I was singing this a few months ago and was told I need to put more energy.
  14. Hi everyone! New singer here, started singing about 6 months ago and currently on the AAproach program. Here's my cover of Let Her Go https://soundcloud.com/dennisdo-1/let-her-go Definitely looking forward to any improvements/critiques given. I know my voice breaks certain part and it's not smooth at certain notes (especially the end) but this is my best recording so far.
  15. Thanks Owen, I think it's time to hit one of my vocal buddy then lol. I definitely noticed that sometimes when I sing along with the song, I'm able to hit my chest voice, but it's only when I'm feeling very relaxed.
