  1. Just me, but I don't know if there is one.
  2. I do the same thing. I find that the more I pay attention, the more tiny mistakes I make. If I make 5 recordings of the same thing, and I’m not really paying attention the first, I find that’s the best one.
  3. That sounds different to me. Maybe the rasp effect is the same.
  4. I mean, I just learned to access it, but based on how easy it was to add the rasp that I know how to do, I would think they learned it the regular way and then slightly modified things.
  5. If it's barely closed wouldn't it not be thin or high-pitched at all?
  6. What a list! I think you'll get it done. If you want help with the whistle thing, I may be able to help with the whistle thing. I tried to do the David Lee Roth thing earlier and I sounded like a bird being murdered
  7. Jens is great! He first gave me my whistle exercises that I was doing first! Probably will get a lot of people in on that!
  8. Alright! What are we looking to do this year?!
  9. Well, short update. I mentioned I thought I got into the whistle register the other day. The sound seemed to have everything but the actual flute-like quality to it, because it was high, thin and there seemed to be another trick I had to use to access the notes after going into falsetto (they were above my usual falsetto range). That seemed actually like it could have been more falsetto notes to the top of my range or the actual whistle. It actually turned out to be more notes just sitting at the top of my falsetto range and I was actually much happier about that, if I had to choose between whistle voice and that (6 notes on the top of your range). Turns out I didn't have to choose. I started actually getting into whistle on Saturday and then really seemed to get into it on Sunday. Haven't checked the range much, but I can go from C6 to G6.
  10. It’s words like that which will result in somebody start trying to learn much later in life or not at all.
  11. But how many people know how to do it and then how many people actually try to manipulate it?
  12. I saw you post about this guy a few days ago and I looked up that exact video. Pretty cool. I could be wrong, but if you use falsetto enough, it's probably all in your approach.
  13. You might be able to do it right now. I was topping out at G5 in falsetto for years and I picked up a bunch of info on the whistle register over the past few years. I just recently found out a week ago that one of the exercises I learned to use was being done wrong. I did it for a few minutes each day since Monday. It seemed that the sound was changing every day. Then earlier I did it and somehow it jumped. I wasn't sure at first but I went to the top of falsetto to see if I could connect it and it was like an inaudible break and then it jumped. I also still have constriction so I'm interested to see what removing that might do.
  14. Maybe you make another list then come back and throw in that you want a 7 octave range. See what happens...
  15. I was just thinking I was about to put on my list for next year that I want to have whistle voice access. I'm fairly certain that I just did it. About 80% sure. I was just practicing and then it suddenly got thin and went higher. My falsetto usually tops out at G5 or sometimes A5. This time it got thinner and shot up to C6. Then I tried to run up through my range and it seemed to just connect. The characteristics changed at about G5 and it got easier.
  16. Yes, it can be very tricky. I think it can be done though, with or without help.
  17. Well, it's about that time! What did I do? 1. Check! 2. Funny thing about this. There was a thread on here a while ago that discussed some people being trained as one voice type when they were actually something else. Apparently that's what happened to me. I thought I was a baritone for years but I am actually a tenor. I had been singing a certain way that only allowed me to get out a weak A4 or maybe B4. Now, I don't know how high I can go at this moment, but I have soared up to E5 in full voice, several times, without running into any roof. 3. Not done this one. For some reason, finding a guitar instructor is difficult around here. I have ended up deciding not to learn many songs and instead, I've been teaching myself to play through a Berklee sheet music book. It's working very well. 4. Not done this, but I have started playing again. Could start back lessons before the new year! 5. Not done this because I decided not to do it just yet, but I actually could still do it before the new year! 6. Check!
