  1. actually the vowel change was intentional; i was trying to give it some more umph glad you liked it MDEW I got the instrumental from www.karaoke-version.com
  2. sounds to me like you have noted two pitch errors - I am aware of them, and don't really mind them. Like you said, "There might be other cases like this throughout the song, but honestly it's not important to me." I feel the same, really. Pitch is great, but as long as it's not really obviously wrong I'd rather have great performance. obviously both is desirable, but not always achievable for the untrained ear even after years of practice. As for the G5, whilst i can hit a G5 the song is so demanding vocally already that I didn't personally think it was necessary. There are already so many liberties and adlibs that for me it would be a bit overkill so I chose not to do something that extreme. Artistic license, i guess xD. like you said, it would be exhausting for me and the listener rofl. thanks for feedback!
  3. Glad you liked barracuda! i sang it about 3 years ago now and my mixing wasn't as good back then unfortunately as for witchy woman - i bought the backtrack and my duet partner on it, saffy and i, we did the background vocals.
  4. I don't wanna spam the forum, but I've posted things that got good feedback elsewhere just looking to show them to a wider audience and gain perspective etc, yknow? Anyway, this is technically the Joe Cocker version of I Put A Spell On You, but I changed it up quite a lot. It's pitched up 2 keys and I did a lot differently with the vocals including making harmonies that weren't there. I'd love some feedback on this, Thank you so much!
  5. i did valerie once! wasn't very good though, but that's because I fudged up the runs do you sing btw?
  6. I covered the song Get Jinxed, it was released by Riot Gaming upon the release of their League of Legends champion, Jinx! I did all the vocals including background work. Let me know what you guys think?!
  7. haha filling emptiness - that's just my voice! I have a dark tone by nature. Glad you liked it anyway though! thank you Ronws
  8. my suggestions is yell the crap out of the song. Get the volume out on in that key, up there, doesn't matter if its not pretty. Then when you have the volume in that range, work on the pitch. That's how I learned to belt, anyway.
  9. Support, support, support! Manage that breathing, make sure you have plenty air, and project! Use that space in your throat (finding it is easy! Just yawn. You feel that? thats the space you wanna be using) and make sure your diaphragm is moving as you sing. Resonance, or vibrations, should be in chest unless of course you're using falsetto. I would love to hear you on these notes in chest, however, so don't be afraid to project and really go for those notes. I have no idea what you know and what you don't so I'm just giving out the advice for support I generally give. Let me know if any of this is old news to you and what aspects of it you may be struggling with. Hope it helps
  10. Oh I do love a good tenor. As for Iron Maiden - psh. Don't like em anyway Lovely playing! Generally you sounded really nice, and your emotion was great. I do have some notes though. Watch you support yourself and don't go nasal on those higher notes, they sound pushed out through the nose to me. I love the lower notes. There was a lot of straight tone in this, I would have liked to hear more vibrato especially on the higher held notes; it would have probably helped break up the nasal-ness I heard there also. Some support work and perhaps trying to approach the note from above in your mind would help with those high notes. I would also like to hear them in chest voice if you can manage it; some more projection would have helped drive home the emotional performance for me. I liked it over all, though, and I think your performance was great. Some technical issues that can definitely be fixed with practice!
  11. Thank you, Xamedhi! I'm glad you like the belts and whistle! I am self taught, but I put p.much most of my improvement down to being at audio city. Since myself and all the other members run so many competitions there, and i've been there for about 3 years now, i've been getting feedback on a weekly basis for most of that time and that has helped me so so much. So I am self taught but the feedback of others has helped me in a way I couldn't have helped myself! I would most certainly appreciate some tips on strengthening the bridge; this song is stupid high all over the place and I definitely felt tension at 2:06. Mostly on the "o" vowels "losing" of losing all my breath, and "more" of more than simple feeling. I'm glad you liked it overall! Really great feedback - I prefer the specific over the general any day. Thank you so much ^_^
  12. iMPROVE: Less growling, it's used way too frequently for me and feels like a bad habit you've developed. Rolled vowel sounds give this a cabaret feeling for me e.g. instead of a short baby you hold it like BAY-BAY-UH this again feels like a bad habit and sort of cabaret. Nothing wrong with cabaret, but its not my cup of tea. Sometimes your held notes fell under pitch Liked: The verses were really pleasant and nice. Your emotion seemed genuine and it definitely felt like you were convicted to the song, even if the energy in terms of the growling and things felt like a little over the top.
  13. Well dayum if I don't hear you on some Eric Clapton, Ray Lamontagne, or Joe Cocker I'm going to be really, really sad. What an interesting and lovely voice you have. You also have this unexpectedly lovely, even, almost classical vibrato. It has a weight but isn't too heavy. Love it. Watch those high notes- you're reaching up. Try to approach the note from above in your mind and drop down on to it so you aren't straining or reaching up. Make sure you're taking in enough air also, to help your support here. Dude, don't record with music in the background! Get a mixing programme (there are some decent free ones - inbox me), and record with headphones in, then mix it. I can help out if needed, but you need to be put with music, man. Hit me up. Not meaning to be condescending if you have those things set up, just trying to help :)
  14. I would like to hear a more polished sample from you, and perhaps something that shows more of your range as this was a limited display and therefore I cannot really comment on range-related recommendations. Yodelling and diction need a bit of work, and your falsetto support could be stronger. However the main thing I got from this is that you have a very lovely, soulful tone. Going off that I'd go for Omarion, Ne-yo, Usher, that kind of thing, y'know? You generally seem to have good pitch control too and stuck within your chosen key even in a capella, which is hard. There's natural talent there for sure. Keep at it!
