  1. Great job! Thom Yorke is one of my favorite singers and like with Chris Cornell's material, Im always a bit scared when I hear someone is about to sing his vocal parts. I've heard people trying to sound like Thom Yorke and most of the times it sounded bad. Im glad you did this one your own way. Once you went full instead of falsetto I basically screamed "Yeah! That's the way to do it!" Nothing cartoony here. You have a good voice and the performance was very good.   Keep up the good work!
  2. I tried to do something with a different approach, therefore I chose this rather unknown song. No low notes or country music this time.
  3. Very nice! This is more closer to Kristofferson's version than Cash's. You got the feeling of this song right from the start. Apart from the low notes, you basically nailed the song. Low notes thing is not an issue. Transposing the song half or whole step higher would probably do the trick without changing too much the feel.   I think your voice works very well with this kind of material.
  4. Thanks for the feedback!       Haha! Now that you mentioned, Im about to check out their discography. Apart from Mmmm and that superhero song, I haven't heard any of their other material.
  5. Whoa! Those highs are breathtaking. Stellar vocal performance!   Sir, you know what you're doing.
  6. You can sing the right notes, but you sing them one octave lower. As far as I can tell, your tone is ok.   You have a good starting point there, I've heard much, much worse. If singing is something you enjoy doing, go for it.
  7. Last time it was "twang overdrive", so I toned it way down.
  8. Good work and an excellent song choice! You have a soulful voice and good tone. Technically this sounds fine to me, you hit the right notes and even though you're in high register singing loud, it doesn't sound too shouty. When it comes to hitting highs, Im definitely not the guy you want to ask about it.
  9. You've got beautiful qualities in your voice that can really shine in mellow songs with minimal arrangements. If you are not used to sing softly, I think you should do it more and experiment with dynamics. Im not sure what is your musical preference, but I think that man and guitar approach might suit you very well. I didn't hear nasality. As others have already said, add some reverb.   Nice job and great song choice!
  10. Well, there's nothing wrong with your voice and you can definitely sing. Grit works and you have good tone.
  11. Thanks for the honest critique!   I have been singing country material this way for a while, so I haven't been paying much attention to that twang thing, but I guess I should. I always thought little twang would add something in this context, but sounding like a "hick" is not my intention.   KillerKu, great post! I will definitely do some experimenting with my voice and tone down the twang.   Information like this is pure gold! Thanks again, you guys rock!
  12. Im very much into progressive/jazz-metal or whatever you call that stuff. I think you have good voice and it fits well to the material. You are 18 and I think you have great potential in your voice.

  14. Man, you have great voice. Perfect for bluesy/rock stuff.
