  1. before you exercise you have to warm up your muscles by stretching and so forth, in order to avoid causing muscle strain, pulled muscles, stitches, muscle cramps etc... why then should it be any different to warm up your vocal cords before singing? Warming up prevents vocal injury, straining your voice or ending up with nodules and unable to sing again. Do what is best for you not what people think. At the end of the day it's your body, your choice, your health not theirs
  2. anyone can learn to sing. Noone is born a singer. it becomes a talent you can adapt unless you're tone deaf. My website has very basic guidelines on how to learn to sing. Check it out at www.vocalchordz.com hope it helps
  3. Maybe you need more sufficient sleep if you're yawning? How many hours a day are you sleeping? Have you tried taking a teaspoon of honey before you sing? Do you drink 8-10 glasses of water a day? All these could be contributing factors
  4. Interesting topic! I gave up meat a year ago and your question has left me pondering if I actually did have a change in my voice. I'm guessing not in my situation in particular. Years ago I started as an alto singer and through the years, I now can sing a wider range from soprano to tenor. But I think this is purely based on my practice and not my change in diet. Do you practice singing songs in different keys on a regular basis? Good on you for giving up meat. I found it hard at first but feel alot healthier, happier and lighter
  5. Lovely voice! I also don't like to sing at home in fear of neighbors hearing me. I sing loudly in the car when I'm driving. You can try that, or at a friend's home or somewhere quiet. Maybe in your home there's a quiet room where you can have the door shut to block out the noise? It is better to sing loud and not constrict your voice that way you learn your full capacity and also expand your vocal range. Constricting keeps your singing limited. I know this from experience when I too would limit myself
  6. Apart from a few pitchy notes you already know of, I like the country feel of the song. It's very mellow and layback. I quite like acoustic so I definitely didn't close the link and listened to the whole song Very different approach and easy to listen to.
