  1. I was listening now to the "Oh Darling" vocals version of Paul McCartney you linked, and I thought "Hey Paul McCartney sounds like KillerKu a bit".
  2. That whistle at the end is impressive, Javastorm. Well, your whole rendition of the song! Singing Mariah Carey...wow. You've worked this song really thoroughly and it shows in the result. Bravo!
  3. MDEW, I remember I once said this is one of Bee Gees' songs I can sing. But that was before I really tried. Good Job!!!
  4. You are very expressive with your voice. I like it.
  5. I know that song, Jeremy, and you sound great there! And looks like you are the only one who knows how to sing some Bee Gees here.
  6. I like the song! I'll be here for the voting.
  7. I like your spirit, Simon! I like what you were trying to do with your song. I think if you go on learning and get this in better shape (learn the song better for the pitch), I'll like your version very much. You'll probably benefit from training falsetto. Then you go back to this coordination you are using here now and will have it easier (I am inexpert, just an opinion).
  8. I didn't understand the part where it says "you are not allowed" or "were refused". I understood it as "Happy Birthday, I love you, I wish I was there" (2 hours away ufff that's too far for me).
  9. There sure is some drama in your post above... I hope you are doing well now. The song is cute. Problem for me is it is not romantic. "I wish I was there with you"...why aren't you? I can understand you in the song, which means your Virginian accent is not that strong there haha. It's cute; it has enough changes in the vocals and music as not to be boring.
  10. @emme207 I've been listening to versions of "At Last". Beyoncé has one, Cristina Aguilera another. I can see that it is a very difficult song that you make look easy. I am appreciating more and more the style in which you sing it. It's lighter and sweeter. Different! Do you know Sarah Vaughan? You might like her songs.
  11. emme207, I am going to explain what I meant before because I think you didn't understand what I mean: if you change famous songs very much, some people won't like it at all and can even perceive it as off pitch. Some others will see it as personal style and like it. This same thing can happen with the jury of the Voice and you'll have to analyze the risks carefully and make sure it is not perceived as off-pitch by people. Having a personal style is a great aim to have. It must be easier to achieve with your own songs than with others' though. It still can be done with famous songs, but working them very carefully.
  12. That way of thinking is correct, and the right one to propel you to improve, but trust your pitch, I say! I am not your family and truly like you. You can experiment and see if your family and friends also like some difference in style...because what they like is that you sing VERY WELL.
  13. She didn't sound off pitch to me in the other songs either... emme207, there's an important lesson to learn in all this since you want to go to the Voice or similar: many people (singers included) are going to see you as off-pitch if you make the song too much yours, so there is a risk in it. Making it yours is something to strive for in my opinion, and I liked that about your style very much, but we can see the risks. I've truly seen you as a fantastic singer all along, but I am afraid I don't have the tools to help you more. That's something Robert can do. So take the criticism as a possibility for improvement. Prepare something for the Challenges! I believe you still can sing something much much more difficult, something everybody can understand it is very difficult, like Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston...some great song.
  14. I had given you the Like before I heard the second song, which is my kind of song! (only saw one at first) You have a great voice. In the second one what fails is the mix between the music and your voice. I would like your voice a bit louder in the mix. But it doesn't matter...it still sounds good and I can see what a good voice you have despite the little technical inconveniences.
  15. I have voted Bee Gees because I'd enjoy hearing all those who said they'd sing a song. But I would like it if there are Frank Sinatra's and others' challenges in the future.
  16. Oh I missed this thread. And you have missed lots of them saying they'd do a Bee Gees challenge. It is in Jon's thread about Belting and Bridging.
  17. But it's not a teacher who is telling her that. It is a member of the choir, who is an "expert". We just don't know what kind of an expert she is. Some people think that by correcting others they automatically become experts, and then can sometimes do it just to keep on looking like experts. I think Felipe understood the situation very well, that the one who has issues in a casual choir like this, giving you such nasty comment, is that "expert". She probably would like to be singing alone. Anyhow, I think the best for you is to just forget about this all, since that expert is fortunately very far away from you in the choir, and keep enjoying the experience.
  18. I've only listened to the first because I had to download it to hear it. I disagree with your second comment: I think your voice has a pretty sound. And if everything in singing is subjective, the sound of a voice is even much more! I truly do like yours. I am also in a choir, in the lowest voice for female, and trying to be able to sing because the notes in the score are too high for me.
  19. Javastorm, I am you fan. Your cover of Brian McKnight's song was the first time I heard it and I was like WOW I am going there now to listen to it again.
  20. Yeah! Fantastic, Slow Start! I love your Music, and you are playing the guitar yourself, aren't you? Don't tell me the songs are also yours...
  21. Yeah! One brave person to take the challenge! Bravo! As I can't speak in the Review Section (nor do I have any interest in ) I'll give you my opinion here: I've liked your song much more since minute 1, like you were a bit nervous at first and gained confidence as you went on. It looks like an extremely difficult song to me because the singing goes on NON-STOP, with lots of changes in pitch (or however that is called that you have to do modulating your voice). It must be fantastic training for breathing, or you are already an expert at it, because your breathing didn't fail at any point. Just great.
