  1. Hi muffinhead, I use to have the same problem especially after singing many high notes. I finally found the reason was because I was using more more of my throat rather than my diaphragm to push my voice out and its a VERY UNHEALTHY way of singing. Check out this video below: I guarantee you that you'll feel a noticeable difference after doing the exercises recommended even after a day or two.
  2. Hi ren, I believe that the more widely accepted version is that it's a whistle register. I think the main reason behind it being a register is because the sound of the whistle is so different from the falsetto. It's like comparing between the vocal fry register and a very low note haha!
  3. According to some skeptics yes, but I personally don't think so because the vocal fry is slackening of the vocal chords so there is no tension.
  4. Didn't expect such a good voice on Vine haha. I think the only way to train agility is to keep on doing riffs and runs while working on your mix so that you have enough range to make them impressive. Here's a video on how to riff/run:
  5. I agree with VideoHere, but I believe compression takes especially long because you're forcing your throat to work in a way where its traditionally not used to aka getting better at putting more pressure on your throat. Try doing lip trills to gain sufficient breath control and then slowly compressing the throat to vowels. Good luck man!
  6. We should all be aware of the importance of keeping our larynx neutral but there shouldn't be too much emphasis on it because it will only distract us from full projection on the voice. To keep your larynx neutral in head voice, try lip trills like in here:
  7. Hi Colin571, I remember there was a phase when I was stuck listening between this song and How to save a life. The technique used here is definitely a vocal fry but the vocal fry is sustained even when singing the phrase. That also means that you can't sing loudly while creating this effect as well. What you can do to achieve this is to practice holding your vocal fry and then subsequently adding this feeling into your singing!
