  1. Danizzz, u did a great job. U have very balanced voice with good quality. Rob is right, you have the natural placement to build a great voice.
  2. Rob, I don't know for sure but I would assume a lot of FB likes or followers and Youtube views would lead statistically to a certain amount/percentage of voice course sales and private lessons per month. It is similar to how advertisers pay for tv or internet time. If the numbers didn't show results they would not continue paying for the slots. Ken continues making videos so it must be working pretty good. Ken may be paying for views or likes but it would surprise me if he does. He is such a good vocalist I really believe his singing ability can't help but produce good sales. I mean, if you want to sing great and Ken can do it, and says he can teach you to do it, people will take the bait. This is just my opinion and I could be wrong. You have been doing this a long time so I am sure you know way more about this than me. Peace.
  3. I bet Tamplin is rolling in the money. He is living in Hawaii now and has around 100,000 followers on Facebook. He is an exceptional singer so I am sure that really gives him a big boost in selling his product. I think Seth, Brett and Ron Anderson do well too. I find them doing real well for some other reason than their singing because none of them have a great voice like Tamplin to promote their product. They have some good students and staff teachers who sing well so I am sure that helps.
  4. There are many reasons people may not have taken you up on your $4.99 offer, Robert. Sounds like a good deal but maybe they are looking for a different singing style, classical, jazz, pop, etc) and they look for that on YouTube. And of course, they may find what they want on YouTube for free Example: I play guitar. I find free tutorials for almost any song I want to learn to play! When I was younger I spent many hours transcribing solos. The tutorials are quick and free. There are many things good and bad about the digital computer age. I think you know what I mean. Things change and we have to figure out how to evolve to stay relevant, if that is even possible.
  5. I don't think you need any training. You sound very professional and natural. Great sound. I love it! Post more songs. Very beautiful voice.
  6. I think some singers have an edge that no amount of training will get the average or even good singer to. You see this threw out life in other disciplines. There are always a few people that are exceptional in their chosen field. I am not opposed to training. You need to train to see what your particular voice can deliver. I believe in training and practice. However, thinking you are going to be a Russell Allen, Dio, Ken Tamplin, etc. Is not realistic. I heard Bruce a few months back at a concert. The band Ghost performed the opening act. Their lead singer had a very pleasant voice but small and not very strong but projected well. I enjoyed his singing very much. I think it suits the band's style. However, when Bruce started singing it was other worldly. Bruce's voice filled the entire arena like a nuclear explosion (in a good way). It was large, well supported and full of color and expression. That concert helped me hear the difference in a good singer and an outstanding singer. Bruce was absolutely amazing from start to finish.
  7. Good job on this song, good quality. ! I love this song, too. Last few times I have heard James sing this and other songs live it was horrible. Something is going wrong with his voice. It is very harsh sounding and off pitch. Plus, you can't understand a word he is singing. It sounds as if he is singing continual ah vowels to me. Maybe he will get it worked out soon. I hope so because I love Dream Theatre.
  8. Great job, man! I don't think u need a review. U definitely have the Bruce thing going. I love it!
  9. Great! I missed the first webinar but watched the post. I can't make this webinar either; I will be in Santa Barbara at a conference. I was thinking, the webinar with James was good and I am sure this up coming one will be good too so what about a future webinar with Tamplin??? I think it would be great because we could ask questions and Robert could help us better understand what it is that Ken is doing with his voice from Ken's comments. U know, act as a narrator. Ken is a fantastic singer and Rob knows the technical jargon so I think it would be great. Just something to consider. I am not sure if Ken is open to this kind of idea or not. Just thinking out loud. Looking forward to the webinar post at a later date.
  10. Felipe,  damn bro, you killed Man on a silver mt!  I don't think it needs any tweaking.  Great job.  Your voice sounds like one register from top to bottom and I like the way you can hit the closed vowels high in you range. It adds a lot of color and quality to your sound.  Reminds me of Tamplin.  You have made enormous improvement! Great job!

Oh thank you man!!  I really appreciate the feedback, and that someone noticed the difference haha, thanks for letting me know!

You know me, I am the guy who was suppose to write about high level singers and never got around to it.  Lol  I sent you the John Cowan videos, too.  The way you are developing the ability to do the oo's and ee vowels up high is really paying off (u are not sacrificing the natural beauty of the vowel). Your words are understandable and well balanced.  Some singers do the narrowed ah vowel continually and to me it kills any quality the song could potentially have.  Also, you can't understand the words or lyrics.   You have a great balance going between light/darkness  and it is very effective.  You are definitely on the right track now.

  11. I couldn't get in either. Oh well, no big deal. I had plenty of other things I needed to get done. Maybe next time things will be organized better. I guess I can catch the video upload when it is ready.
  12. I actually hate the sound of twang. I know they say it amplifies your voice but it sounds so bad I try do avoid it at all cost. I really found Daniel's comments helpful and practical.
  13. Damn James Lugo, you are a badass!! Fantastic voice! You are the first vocal coach I have heard that is even close to Tamplin! Keep up the good work. I live in NC. You make the state proud.
  14. Rob,  I saw a comment by another member asking about singing books.  I have been working from the Barbara Docsher and Berton Coffin books.  They have really helped me a lot.

Cool.  Does your book teach black metal type vocal technique?

We wouldn't refer to that as being really a "technique" as much as a style. Techniques can be applied to all styles. But more to the point, the book and course teach several distortions and effects. Three of the distortion techniques would apply to your genre, yes.

I also recommend that you get the course and training content where you can watch the videos. there are videos of me demonstrating the screams that Im referring to and instructions on how to do it.

      There are three options here:

Sounds like a great program.  I will check it out.  The two books I mention earlier took me awhile to understand but they are working real well for me at this point.  I think Coffin uses colors for his vowel modifications, too.  Anyway, thanks for the info.
