  1. I am hoping to audition andI have to submit an online video. It's all accapella. Please give me your very honest feedback about my voice. Why does my tone change so much and sound so different? My chest voice to me sounds bad, like almost manly, but it is easiest for me to sing. While my head voice sound like it has a better tone, I get physically tired singing it and I can't seem to breathe right no matter how hard I practice from the diaphragm. Worse, my left side of the throat hurts sometimes. What vocal range am I? I noticed I talk very deeply and it hurts as well. I've always felt my voice is very 'bahh'bahh' like..almost gravelly. It doesn't have that crystal clear sharp voice I hear in most voices. How can i achieve that? Are my vocal cords damaged? My higher notes are unstable--it can either hit right or get REALLY pitchy. What am I doing wrong? What kind of voice/larynx/technique should i use to ensure a consistently good tone? What do you think are my biggest problems with my voice in your opinion? Lastly, which track do you think I should use to audition? Thanks for helping!! audition songs(in another langauge but i hope you don't mind): https://soundcloud.com/user-940698627/iu-ending-scene https://soundcloud.com/user-940698627/iu-dear-moon https://soundcloud.com/user-940698627/memories-of-the-wind-audiotrimmercom chest voice-just for reference: https://soundcloud.com/user-940698627/hero-mariah-carey
  2. I've been really struggling determining my voice type. I've been singing since i was young but it was only the past year where i started being concerned with technique, agility, range, etc... I know i am not the best singer but it would really be great if someone will try to classify my voice and help me develop! My lows notes usually is from C#2-B3 but it can also reach B1 (vocal fry), I my voice starts to crack somewhere in F4 and G4 idk if i start transitioning from chest to mixed here but i know my voice switches into something else in this part. Idk where my head voice starts but it can reach up to G5. My falsetto can go as high as C6 sometimes Eb6 or higher but it's really hard and sounds very weak if i try to go higher than C6 and my whole voice gets tired and uncontrollable after overutelising it. Idk if i am resonant or if i have a good support. I'm not sure if i'm doing runs properly. Also, idk if i'm singing healthy. Self learning is hard ughhh Very high falsetto: https://soundcloud.com/user-935041544/img-2954 Comfortable falsetto: Me singing:
  3. This song is out there. I like it, I'm happy with it, but I want to learn how to take my voice higher obviously. I'm a baritone I think. I can hit A4 but not with agility. This song goes up to F#4 which is typical of baritone. Constructive criticism is appreciated. Take a listen to my voice and let me know what you hear. Thank you! https://drive.google.com/open?id=1socIDJTGXkjGqf01oIiebfCOlYT3M06d
  4. Hello! I'm Emily & I been into singing contests/performances since I was super little, then joined acapella at around 15 and have been in it ever since. There has definitely been a change in voice from 12 years old to now. When I was younger, my "technique" or sound was kind of the opposite we can say haha. I used to strain so bad! I do still feel some strain in my throat but that's after a lot of singing, and I do feel it is easier to sing the way I am now than in the way I was when I was 12 lol. In the video provided, I would strongly appreciate it if anyone can give a nice analysis on my register(is it chest??) and **anything** I could work on! one thing I am concerned about for the past few years is that I have a "beegees" feel (at least my dad said) to my voice no matter how low I try to sing. it sounds like an airy type of voice. I wanted to know if that could maybe be my natural voice or if it's a way of coping with the straining I used to put on my voice when I was younger. Or possibly if that's simply how my voice developed over many years. I do feel pretty natural singing this way. Thank you loves! https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Vuq-hOL_a9nLNrSqGOxSTwBp14qPZ0Eo https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-roCmLNo2wXBw2dwACmSPiZxF7ATR7M9 https://drive.google.com/open?id=1EsJbI8nJid0I7qpmI2M2s_Zv_fOr8ijF
  5. WhatsUp Guys, I want to know what is it that really actually happening to the singing voice and the high notes when singing publicly & spontaneously I feel like These days we live in a Technology world that is near taking over our social life as human beings lol so i just thought we should be more social to each other. And an idea came up in my head, why not Practicing my vocals in a such enviroment! Remember this is just a part of my Training Routine, so i'm glad if you give me alot of feedback! Mash up with all the feedbacks you can get! Peace!
  6. 7. I'm Noah, I'm from New Zealand, and I'm almost 15. I've been singing for about 4 years now, mostly in the 3rd octave (My voice dropped relatively early, around 12). However, I'd like to build up some confidence in my upper register (above say G4), where up until now I've resorted to yelling (small clip provided) This threshold used to be a lot lower, close to E4, but over time this has moved up. What I think I know about my voice. Based on my dad's range and tone (we both have the same range, about D2-C6) I think I am a tenor, albeit slightly lower set. My passaggio seems to be between Eb4-G4 I'd like to develop a mixed coordination of some sort so I don't have to yell when singing notes in the upper 4th octave, and also to be able to connect my falsetto to my full voice. I've been working on this for a few months now, and I've found that I am able to slide smoothly between my chest voice and falsetto on a closed "oo" or "ii" vowel. This is only going up though (I can't slide bACK from falsetto to chest w/o breaking). I have also found another voice that is connected to my chest that I can take pretty high (goes up to C#5 on a good day, which is my highest yelled note; i've managed to get it to around an f5 on some occasions), but it is veRY VERY light (also an example provided). My question is: What exercises do I need to be using, how do I use them effectively, and what is this mysterious upper voice? Thank you (excuse the whistle at the beginning, i was messing around lol) Ballad Of Mona Lisa.mp4 Head Voice?.mp4
  8. I'm attempting to lighten up my vocals whilst still maintaining a definitely connected sound with good color. This is not how I intend to always sing, just trying to find the lowest possible effort and lightness with good sound, then am going to go to the opposite extreme. My goal is to find my limits on both ends. Any comments on this effort will be appreciated.
  9. Hey Guys, how are you doing? I´m from Brasil, I´m a TVS Student since 2017 april. Before join TVS team I watched all Rob´s Youtube content. Now after almost one year I started to record my songs. You can hear the result here: https://soundcloud.com/ducabeloeosi…/por-que-nao-uma-de-amor? TVS Methodoloy really works, when I found Rob on Youtube I was a begginer, never sang before. My favorite part of the program is Onsets!!! Thank you so Much Robert Lunte.
  10. Hiiii. I just recorded a raw cover of Reflection from Disney. I’d like to get some critique and feedback on how I can improve my voice quality. I feel as though I’ve been belting unhealthily and it’s straining me. I can belt but it is not a very comfortable thing for me. I feel as though I need to work on relaxing my throat. I just know something is wrong with the way I sing this cover. Could you please help me distinguish and give me tips on how I can improve it? During a choir voice warm-up, one of our conductors tested my voice on piano and said I am Soprano 1. He placed me in the Alto group tho. During a choir voice warm-up, one of our conductors tested my voice on piano and said I am Soprano 1. He placed me in the Alto group tho. I never had professional training btw and only received informal lessons from an Aunt and uncle who are professional singers. I used to sound nasal and only improved over time through practice. I just feel there is sth wrong with my belting. Here is the link: https://www.smule.com/p/1509298119_1920505134
  12. Hi Folks, This is one of my favorite songs. I posted a version earlier, this is after I did some work on my musculature. Now I am able to retain more of the muscular sound even on my high notes. The verse as many will attest is one of James La Brie's finest performances. It has taken me several years to reach this level. For now happy with the outcome. Thanks to anyone who drops in a sentence or two..
  13. Hello, I have been learning the various voice registers & applying to this song. Any suggestions on where to improve would be greatly appreciated, i.e. Do it sounds like one voice? or not yet? Love & peace
  14. So here is my cover of Steelheart's I'll Never Let You Go. Let me know what you think of it. I do accept all sorts of criticism regardless of whether it's positive and negative. Any suggestions or tips on how to improve I would greatly appreciate it!
  15. Hi Folks, This is a song that I have wanted to sing for a very long time. This is as you all know, an incredibly difficult song on the passagio. I don't think I sound anything like Steve, so it makes it way more difficult for me. It is a bit of a Mount Everest for me this song This is a work in progress version. There are some pitching issues, please ignore. I am curious to hear what you think about my tone in the chorus Thanks to anyone who can drop in a few words
  16. https://www.smule.com/recording/abba-dancing-queen/1088277799_1226555039/ensembles Confidence issues and weak attack on lower register/ stronger upper register? Advice please folks?
  17. Hi Folks, It has been a very long time since I posted. I have made some jumps in my technical skills and so thought I should post a song again. This actually I did about 2.5 years ago. Unfortunately I don't have the older recording to do a Before-After comparison. but the old version was around the time when I started to learn to bridge but had still not learnt how to smoothly connect to the chest voice. I had lot of issues then with nasality and "Quacky" sound. I think since then I have addressed some of them. One thing that I would like to share in my experience is how important it is for us singers to keep pushing the boundaries every single time. When you become better in singing, it reflects not only in your ability to do tough songs at an acceptable level, but it really improves the way you can sing "simpler" songs..
  18. Hello Modern Vocalist World! I just wanna thank Robert Lunte for his labor - the secret is revealed. For I was searching, trying, doubting... And finally TVS. So practical, exact explanations, awesome! Here I am singing and playing on this video: Vinni
  19. @ronws said a while ago my voice reminded him of Peter Cetera, so with that in mind I sang this. Sits pretty high the whole way through so I tried to lighten up, twangify and keep the sound bright as much as possible. Any and all feedback welcome.
  20. How you see i go to the Bb2 to the D5 at least, but it's connected my register? I leave the link below link: Test Sound
  21. Dear All, I recently did a cover of I Will by The Beatles, with the attached Soundcloud link as follows: Your comments and review are absolutely appreciated. Thanks all! Regards sincerely, Tim
  22. Well, first of all Hi everyone im from Chile and how its say in title i need your help, i really wanna know what is my vocal register... i mean im a tenor? im a baritone? bass? you can note, can you tell me what my vocal range based on the audio attached ? what is my colour, etc, and an opinion about the music would be very well received. 23. Okay I've been training with Brett Manning's programs for about 3 years now. Got better but I'm frustrated with my vocal range. A vocal range upto A#4 is all I want for my singing. I'm a Tenor. So I've been hearing these concepts related to high notes. What I've realized is that people refer to the same thing by saying stuff like yawn, lift soft palate, cry and support. Also is the 'cry' necessary to hit the high notes in full voice cuz it sounds weird to me when I keep a cry on my notes. What are they doing? Singing in mix? Belting? Also would that be more towards SLS or classical typa technique. 2nd Thanks!
