  1. can someone critique my cover of "Rolling in the Deep" please? I'm practicing vocal runs/falsetto and would love any advice I can get please. A few things, At "We could've had it alllllll" my falsetto wavers every single time I try this. It's very low in my falsetto range but I can't switch to mixed voice that quickly. What is a god exercise that will help me transition quickly? I'm 20, male, and have been singing for about two years on and off. I think my breathing is okay at this point but I had some trouble breathing around the halfway point of this song until "We could've had it all". Thanks!
  2. Hi, so I have a hard time belting. A lot. It seems I can't figure out how to properly let the air flow or something. I was wondering if anyone could assist me in this dilemma, I even made a recording on youtube to help get a better understanding of what I'm doing and how to fix it. I did half of a song that represents me belting a few times and even if you see other issues that isn't belting, please point them out. I am finally asking for some help. I would appreciate some helpful feedback~
  3. Its been a while! I was studying this one for some time but had to put in on hold to learn a bunch of other songs for a project... Anyways, cool song that in my opinion needs an extra punch to work well. Very fun stuff to study, I recommend! https://app.box.com/s/9ylbzjg5g56stj9icr5atqza9jdio9lc Let me know how it sounds like! and thanks for listening!!
  4. I am going to record this song and I am still fighting with it somehow.. I work on it already to long so I am not able to be objective - I need your help :-)
  5. I want to join the choir in my school and I'm not sure what type of a singer I am (soprano, mezzo, alto etc.). I can sing okay low and also kind of high sometimes so I'm confused on what would be my optimal range... Any help would be appreciated! I'm relatively new to singing and I know my technique is far from perfect so any constructive critism is also welcome! My soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tiinamaria Thanks!
  6. Hello everyone! I have started a new program from eli prinsen called hvt master series. Really great program i can recomend it to rock/metal singers. I am starting to train the technique of thinning out the chest voice instead of going to falsetto or head voice on the higher notes. I am still training and it will probably take a long time before i get there. But the problem is our band has a show on saturday and in that song there is a high note B4 which i cant really hit. I want it to sound as clean as possible but it turns out sounding very distorted. Almost like Chris Cornell. Any tips because i have struggled with that note for months now?

  8. For a long time, I have been practicing to have similar technique to this vocalist. Mind you, I do not wish to sound exactly like him, I know that's not possible, but I would like to better understand his techniques and vocal flexibility. Over the past five years, I have accomplished his range and some use of techniques, but as you will hear in the recording at the bottom, my formant and vocal flexibility are lack luster. This has been hard to fix for me. Part of my formant problem is me finding the spaces in my voice where I sound my best. And, due to imperfect technique, I get tired very quickly. This is the song I am singing. Below is the same song with me singing over it. You should be able to hear it pretty clearly, how much voice doesn't quite have the same overtones, yet, it seems like our vocal tones are within the same ballpark. You can hear my voice get so, so tired after a while. Sometimes I sound mouthy and muddled whenever I feel like I sound so much brighter or warmer. I am unsure of what to be looking for. I want to be a performer. This doesn't sound very healthy to me. Please help me to understand where my voice needs to be worked on. Thank you.
  9. Hello everyone, I am really just wondering if any of you have any advice to help improve my voice, I have only recently started to enjoy singing but I don't enjoy my own voice so much and would love to sing a bit better. I have no ambitions to perform so I probably wouldn't take professional lessons but would consider some kind of home study. It isn't a long clip but it demonstrates my voice (recorded on a dictaphone) which I seem to be able to control better in the lower ranges (I'm female). My main issues are that it lacks power, sounds airy and nasal and I don't much like my diction. Also singing gives me a sore throat after a short while. Here is the clip: https://soundcloud.com/user-344131319/cry-me-a-river-clipwma It actually sounds worse than I realised but its is only singing for fun so any tips would be great!

  12. Hi, So I've been toying around the idea to start singing, but I can't get myself to do it in front of others, so Im wondering what you guys think of it? I also would like criticism. Especially the Kodaline track is very rough, I know my falsetto is useless but I just think its a beautiful song and wanted to try it. Is my voice fit for singing? Are there any specific areas I should target first? I know I cocked a few lyrics along the way, but thats just laziness on my part. Sorry about that. https://app.box.com/s/zoaw8sufgiua7md6x20j9msw4xv5uydi https://app.box.com/s/hrgmfv93gwnd0yrjdnvqt6y89oqsp0nt Thanks in advance for any reply
  13. Any feedbacks, comments, and advices are warmly welcomed. Never had singing lessons and I want to improve myself in singing. This is an improved version from the same post about a month ago. Enjoy!
  14. Hey guys. Ive been working lately on songs i couldnt tackle before. Essentially anything above A4 is a huge challenge to me. And even stuff up to A4. Not even mentioning tone and other stuff. So ive started to learn Catch the Rainbow by Rainbow (Dio). It goes up to B4 and i guess thats just enough to gove me quite a challenge. I recorded some clips of the chorus just so you guys can help me out a bit. Im not sure what im doing wrong but obviously i am doing quite a bit if it wrong. Here goes 2 clips. 1 shorter and one longer but both preety short just so you hear what im doing to phonate that B4. Longer: https://app.box.com/s/f2c4obcky5nvye9111urhl3bmg6c844l Shorter: https://app.box.com/s/syj5mirc27sbeu2ugvuf4tp2mm84xry2 Would appreciatte any help. Take note his is after a few take so even some other stuff is wrong but im primarly interested in that B4, but do comment on as much of it as you can. Thanks guys!!!!
  15. I've been singing ever since I was a kid, but only really seriously practicing for maybe 4 years now. Through singing every day, my voice has improved SO much, and I love the way I sound, but lately my vibrato has been sounding less full and it's a little bit harder to do. Singing is a habit and a coping mechanism to me, and so I'd actually have to make an effort to stop singing and give my voice a rest, and I would really like to find an alternate solution if I can. This seems to happen to me every time my allergies get bad but I'm always afraid I'll mess my voice up somehow. It doesn't really hurt but it can get slightly sore. What's the best thing to do? Give my voice a break, do vocal exercises or just wait it out? Is there any possibility that I'm in danger of messing my voice up somehow?

  17. Hello, I have just started trying to teach myself how to sing. I not good yet but I wanted some advice as to what kind of voice type I am? I am finding myself able to belt very high notes from chest and can also hit the same notes softly as well. People keep telling me I'm using falsetto but I have tried to use falsetto and when I do it sounds very different and breathy. It also feels very different.
