  1. Hello again TVM forum, I hope you are all doing well Once again found some time to begin another cover to finish, would like a general critique and any advice that could help. Thank you http://www.reverbnation.com/grungemaniac1/song Pearl Jam - Jeremy
  2. So, a bit of background. I am a junior in High School prepping for my college auditions in November. I aim to take a musical theatre major in an exceedingly talented school, thus the difficult song that I am working on now, which is "Gethsemane" from the musical version of "Jesus Christ Superstar." During the song, Steve Balsamo belts out some fantastic and high heavy notes. What does the placement feel like to you guys when you sing/imagine this note? So far the only way I can get close to it is an improper deep focus on the inner throat which leaves little range and accuracy. Link:
  3. A lot of people on this forum seem to be giving examples of a lot of hard rock singers that can sing well, like iron maiden or judas priest. But what about pop songs? I'm 18, and i love Pop, Pop rock, and electronic music!   But i can never really sing them, seeing how 99.9% of all pop/pop rock/ electronic singers are tenors or tenor 2. The only way for me to sing the songs are for me to transpose it down, when i do, people tell me its nice low and sexy which I pretty much love..   And Iv'e come to accept the fact that i can never ever sing high so i can forget about singing po after my a Capella coach indoctrinated that a bassist range is limited to at max a E4, so dont bother trying AT ALL, and just stick to your Low Notes   But then one day i stumbled upon this.. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/domWW8yxiQg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>   Apparently Tim Foust, a bassist  could go up to a Bb4!?@#!!@#!#%!$ Is this true??   Can anyone tell me based on listening to the way he sings what is he doing?!?! It's almsot impossible for me to go past a D4. How does he achieve it, can I achieve it to? or am i really doomed to never sing my favourite songs?
  4. Hey all. I hope everyone is doing okay.   My question today is how can one add more emotion to his/her singing while singing lower notes ? everything below the end of the fourth octave.   I've noticed, as a guy with a bit of a deep voice (I don't know if I'm a baritone or not anymore, I used to believe I was) it is easier for me to bring emotion into my singing when singing over the end of the fourth octave around F4 - B4.   But anything below that seems mostly just plain boring or bland, unless I forcibly sing breathy and lower my volume, which isn't really practical in most situations.   Suggestions ?
  5. Hey guys. I was wondering if i can strenghten my lower notes. I was told i was a Tenor so i guess those lower notes are not that good and expressive. Any chance of strenghtening that and make it more "dynamic"?   My lowest note is G2 but its kinda "meh" so i recorded Amazing Grace from G#2.   https://app.box.com/s/eybwumexbf01bz7ce66fsojf8j4me678 - This is me singing amazing grace from G#2, also ive included an octave higher just so u hear the difference if that means anything.    P.S. sry about the lyrics. I hope i didnt offend anyone.   Edit: I didnt lower my larynx or anthing. I just sang where it naturally would be. No special manipulation of anykind.
  6. hi lads,   i've question concerning the mixed voice. I've been practising it for quite a while and I searched all through the internet to find some advice and some exercises, but finally it didn't work out. First off I am male ,21 years of age , I am a tenor and i'm geordie ( english). Every time I am singing Angels by Robbie Williams I am facing that one particular high note at the beging of the chorus . It is the f-sharp just below the male tenor c. Sometimes I hit this note in my chest voice properly but ocassionally I just miss it and my family is about to scarper. So I informed meself a bit and I found the mixed voice . so my question is , how do I train and practise the mix voice because the exercises I've found didnt work for me . How do I involve this technique into my singing?   please help me!   kind regards   ladido
  7. Hello beloved TMV Forum. Another day, another post.   I've started working on a new cover (the previous being Nutshell), now and I hope to progress on it to complete it as well, Just needed to know if I'm going on the right track, as usual, I'm just unsure about how it's sounding. Giving me some direction and as well as a critique would be highly appreciated   (It's just the few lines of the beginning anyway )   P.S The song starts after 6 seconds.   http://www.reverbnation.com/grungemaniac1/songs
  8. Hello guys, I'm working on an Alice In Chains cover, it's in progress, I have yet to mix it and add the bass parts and finishing touches. I'd like a general critique of my voice and singing, I started singing a few months ago, I've been told I'm a baritone, I personally don't feel comfortable listening to my own voice for some reason, and am not confident about it, however most people do tell me I have a good voice and I can sing, some though are just indifferent about it.   I would appreciate it if I could get to know the pros/cons of my type of voice, as well as what areas I should work on so I can better myself.   Thank you! Awaiting replies   http://www.reverbnation.com/grungemaniac1/songs
