  1. Hi all! So, I'm actually more into the guitar than singing, but since its fun to mess around alone at home Im kinda forced to do my own singing. Anyway, I havent played or sung really for many years but recently got a guitar and started whacking away at it again. Ive noticed that I have zero falsetto these days, which surprised me. Back in the old days I never had a problem with falsetto (not that I was ever really into using it anyway). But I suspect its indicative of weak chord closure? Please forgive the vox recording quality, theyre recorded through a phone earbuds till I get round to buying a mic
  2. Could you please give me feedback on this song? I am not even a decent guitarist and I am trying to learn singing. Playing and singing comes very hard to me. Anyhow, am I in tune? I can’t really push more air through because I live in an apartment and can only practice late in the evenings and I am self conscious about that. The song is not mine and of course the singer sings it way better but, I am trying to learn to play and sing and trying to find a decent range where I sound ok and can hit highs and lows. I think this octave works for me but need your help because I can’t tell if I am in tune or if I just think I am. Anyhow. The song is ‘at the end pt1” by Wylder which btw I truly recommend to check out as he is very talented. Thank you for your time and, hopefully, suggestions.
  3. A song I wrote with a friend (https://vocaroo.com/do0P3CKkFSV) - it shows my lowest notes and my lower and midrange singing The lowest notes (A2 on "it skips a beat") were difficult for me, it took multiple takes to get a usable recording of those notes, but singing the higher notes in the song (it peaks at A4) didn't cause me any discomfort or wear my voice out. Part of a song I wrote by myself (https://vocaroo.com/8tbs0ZCRtrA) - shows off my highest belting/full voice notes, peaking at E5. Me singing "Shandi" by KISS (https://vocaroo.com/gOxAWLQfzec) - lower and midrange singing Me singing a parody I wrote of a KISS song (https://vocaroo.com/ljFjZlNc0p7) - midrange and high belting
  4. Hi everyone! would someone please review my singing? just started singing not long ago and wondering how i did ,any feedback on improvements are welcome Thank you guys!
  5. Please, tear me apart with criticism. This is a new thing to me, very new. I can’t tell if my playing/singing is really fine or if my friends are trying to not hurt me. I am 40 and don’t have time for false positive comments. I always thought I couldn’t sing so fee months ago I started singing in my car. Tried to get better. I also spent a year learning guitar by myself 30 mins a day, 3 days a week, in my car until covid hit. to myself I sound good but I guess that is typical. I also cringe when I hear some parts of it. Anyhow, 2 minutes of your time. ThNk you for helping me out.
  6. Hi! Would love to get feedback on this cover I just made. It's a one-take. Would love to hear what you liked/didn't like and also whether or not you think this is good progress for 3 years, considering I couldn't hit a single note correctly when I started lol. Thanks for your time.
  7. Hi guys, long time no see . I just recorded a cover of the song Perfect by Ed Sheeran. Thought you might like to hear . If you like it, feel free to put a comment in the video or a like
  8. Did not sing for many years, started again trying not to get insane while in quarantine...
  9. Hello, i'm male on my late teens and a literal beginner on singing. Recently, i've read some topics about vocal ranges and techniques and i wanted to know what my vocal types are and if i did my singing incorrectly. Because i've read that for male that tried to reach high notes, it often accidentally fall into falsetto and highly possible to damage my voices if i overdone it. So i'd be happy if you can make some reviews and ratings about my recordings below so i can started to practice correctly. And i really didn't know what my vocal ranges is Lol. Thanks a lot!! PS: i'm sorry for false notes and tempos, i barely start singing arbitrarily when we were younh (1).mp3 circles low (1).mp3
  10. I have no singing experience whatsoever and no one has ever heard me sing. Recently I started getting more interested in improving my singing. An honest harsh rating would help me improve. Thanks! New Recording 31.m4a
  11. If you are not interested in my boring premise skip to #2 to listen to me singing Jason Isbell’s Cover me up 1) Premise. I always loved to sing but was always very bad at it. I mean, I could never hit high notes and, even the lower pitched songs I though I could sing, when I asked people what they thought, they didn’t think I was as good as I thought I was. They were nice in telling me but I could tell they were being nice. So, I never delved into it. Now I am 40 years old and about two months ago I started singing in my car during my lunch break. I downloaded 2 apps, Erol Singer Studio and Pitch Perfect. I started doing exercises in ESS and noticed my high pitched notes were awful. I kept working at it until, according to the app, I had a little over 2.6 octaves of vocal range. I still struggled with the higher notes but now, making sounds, I had been able hit notes from E2 to C5. Making noise, not singing. Like saying ahhh or eeee etc..not lyrics. I then got bored with ESS and started just singing songs and focusing more on reaching higher pitches and checking with the Pitch Perfect app to work at the limits of my range to get more used to it. At first I used a set of headphones with a little mic boom attached to them I bout on amazon for $20. Then I noticed that when I was singing high notes the mic would just not register them. So I bought a Blue Yeti...3 days ago. I set up the Blue Yeti clamped to my steering wheel and sing in my car during lunch. I know I should be standing but between singing in my car and not singing at all I figure it’d have been better singing in my car. 2) Now, a month ago I was not able to sing the higher part of this song if not in falsetto. Then I watched a few videos on youtube and practiced: this is what the result was. I recorded this using the vocalive app with de-esser (Don’t know if it works) and about 5% reverb and 10% size of room in the background a Smules app without filters for the background track. Jason Isbell: Cover me up https://www.smule.com/p/270407024_3425196961 When I listen to it, it does not sound right, but I cant tell why. Am I off pitch? Am I off tempo? What do you think I should work on? Now, I know I don’t have a good voice and even if I could sing with perfect pitch, I still wouldn’t have an interesting voice: I know that. But I am not trying to become a successful or professional singer. I am just trying to be the best version of myself...as far as I can. Any feedback and tips on what to focus on or tips on equipment and practices I would truly appreciate. As of now I can’t afford/justify voice lessons but if I can get to a decent level working by myself I would consider the investment and make it happen. Thank you so much for your time and priceless tips.
  12. Hi guys, I've been willing to do video collaborations for a while but didn't have enough confidence in my voice. Since a guitarist asked me to do this specific song I said: "ok what the hell, let's do it". ACDC is definitely a stretch for me but I'm glad I did it. Since I'm constantly trying to learn and personally think there are way better ACDC singing covers out there I'd like to ask feedback on how to improve.
  13. Here is a cover I posted to YouTube yesterday!! I’m pretty new to singing but I’ve usually got vocal lessons every week, and since quarantine I’m doing some home study and trying to improve my voice from home, so any critique and tips would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Hi guys, I have been following many methods and Rob was one of the first guys that got my attention on the internet so I decided to come over here and share my first 2 videos on youtube. I started practicing 3 years ago and I was unable to imagine that I would one day share my voice with public so I practiced in car or forest or in an empty buildings . But I thought that the time has come to get my ass to the studio and share the partial success I got from my practice. I know it is a long road still and I am not gonna stop now - I will continue practicing everyday to get my voice to the top level. So here are my two precious things
  15. I know, I can't reach certain notes because it's not in my range. But that's not my main problem right now. There's something about my voice that sounds unpleasant. It's something about the resonance or tone of my voice. I want to correct my voice and I'm watching lots of tutorials, but I don't understand what it is that I'm lacking or what I'm trying to add. I'm trying to get the same quality to my voice like Swae Lee has in the Unforgettable. Is he singing in his mixed voice, and I'm not? What do I have to work on to get closer to that quality of voice? If I only knew what to work on, I could at least work towards something. I just wish someone to point me in the right direction. Cheers!
  16. I am 9 years old (doing this in the presence of my dad). I have started to put effort into singing. I dont take any lessons yet but have sung few cover songs. Please give me feedback. I did Through the fire and flames by Dragonforce.
  17. split_video000.mp4 split_video000.mp4 I really love to sing but I'm afraid I'm horrible. In school I was the only girl in my class that didnt make choir and my music teacher was really mean so I'm scared to sing in front of anyone. Please be honest. I couldn't upload whole video so pt 2 is in next post
  18. Hey everyone, I would love some insight from this forum. My situation is, I don't know how much I will be able to improve my tone of voice and the fear of not knowing if there's a light at the end of this tunnel cripples me. I am currently on my 6th singing lesson but I feel like even though I'm learning and having an easier time hitting notes, the actual tone of my voice hasn't improved. I cant even describe what I dont like about my voice to my vocal coach so she knows what I'm going for, I just think my voice sounds cringey. So dear members, I have 2 questions: 1. How much can one really improve their tone of voice? Can it drastically change over time or will it always have this quality to it even if it improves? 2. How would you describe the sound of my singing voice, so I can know what to try to correct? What do you think I should work on to have a better voice? Really hopeful to get some good insight, grateful for any answers. Thanks!
  19. Hi there So I really want to learn to sing but I have zero clue if I should or if I can. I have recorded a snippet of something I wrote. What is your honest opinion? I am okay with criticism. Thanks in advance
  20. Hello all! I am a Toronto-based actor, singer, and musical theatre performer. I've performed in various musicals all across Ontario, Canada, such as Jekyll & Hyde, West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast, Sweeney Todd, Evita, and Mamma Mia in leading roles. Also, I've another coming up in March 2020: Phoebus in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The other day, I launched my first YouTube channel (a task long overdue), on which I'll be posting covers of songs that are personal favorites, as well as clips and highlights from my live performances. To begin with, here's my cover of the Scorpions' "Still Loving You":www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOwFsg6Qzu0I'd love to know your thoughts, and, if you enjoy the video, please feel free to share it and subscribe to my channel, as there'll be plenty more where that came from. Thank you!
  21. IF YOU HAVE GHOSTS ///// ORIGINAL FOR REFERENCE(ALREADY ON THE RIGHT VERSE) I took some liberty on runs and vibratos, just went with what I felt. Timing is something I´ve noticed has been a tad off, but I´m working on it. HE IS ///// ORIGINAL FOR REFERENCE(ALREADY ON THE RIGHT VERSE) at "-HOLDS(A4) us together -" I can´t really do a chesty mix so I let my head come in and worked on sliding down back to my chest without breaking or sounding weird, and timing, again, is something I´ve been trying to fix. Any tips are welcome. I like these 2 live versions of the songs, since I´ve been working my mix and belt(so it´ll sound louder intentionally), I decided to give them a try, my microphone unfortunately lowers the output volume at the loudest moments, something very noticeable in the first piece, and sometimes gives out some weird effect, but no so much as to botch the audio... Tks for listening and any criticism is pertinent!
  22. Hello! I'm a complete beginner to singing, and I would like to improve at least a bit before vocal lessons which I've decided to do this year. I know there will be quite a few things off with my voice, but any specific things to work on straight away would be greatly appreciated! Here is a clip of me singing, I tried to chose a song that is mainly in my range Sorry for the small laugh near the start of my singing, I realized it was there after I exported the file Thanks a lot !!
  23. Hey everyone So I’m currently trying to find out how one could make the journey of aspiring singers a lot easier... Which is why I have two simple questions: 1. As a beginner, what are the 2 biggest issues you’re dealing with? 2. Regarding your singing voice, what would you wish for more than anything else? Thanks so much in advance - looking forward to reading your answers!
