I don't know many versions of this song, but this is the bluesiest, most personally appealing version that came to mind. There are a few songs I've wanted to do for the holidays, but this one wasn't giving me much trouble like the others so I was able to finish it up. I really like this arrangement and the room it leaves for riffing (which I still need work on), although I think some of the original riffs in Christina's version are out of place or excessive, I liked some of them and kept those. Hope everyone is anticipating the holidays and the new year with a positive mindset. Any and all feedback welcome.

It says the link is broken, but I briefly listened the other day, but I didn't get a chance to finish it and comment.

I really liked the sliding in and out of falsetto. Also checked out your sound cloud. Interesting style you've got there.

I put it back up (new link) if you want to finish the rest of it, but thanks for your comments on what you heard.

I took it down because I thought it was a vocal disaster and figured I'd try to redo it at some point...

Thanks for listening to my SC, also.

Finished listening to it. Not a disaster at all. It was decent. What I would say is to try to work on the falsetto volume, so you don't get too quiet, and work on the execution of the melismas (runs within words). You have nice dynamics. Nice tone in full voice, you've got good elasticity, which is allowing you to switch between falsetto and full voice, and I liked that hint of rasp you threw in at 2:00. You can get this one down.

Thanks for the feedback. I feel like my falsetto loses volume the lower in pitch it gets, especially around B3-E4, but can get a lot louder past C5 and for another octave to C#6 ish. It's probably because I pitched the song two whole steps down that the falsetto wasn't working, not sure.

It's good that you're noticing when that happens. You're closing in on getting it taken care of. That could be the reason it happened, but in any case, I believe you can improve that, so moving things down a couple tones won't be any issue.

Hey ellise, sorry I didn't get a chance to reply until now - I got sick with a sinus infection just before Christmas all the way into the new year...:(

But I'm feeling totally fine now! Thanks for the feedback - I agree that runs should be used decoratively and I probably over-embellished in places trying to imitate the original recording. Knowing when to add ornamentation is something that I am actively working on in songs, and I'm glad you pointed it out.

Thanks!
