akarawd
I would like to know if there are any exercises (especially vids) in order to use a "compressed" tongue shape ; a tongue that is not broad but narrow and although it's touching the front teeth, the mid section is high. The vowel I'm looking for to produce with that tongue formation is "eh". Thanks in advance, Thanos
Steven Fraser
Thanos, I don't mean to meddle, but a resonant 'eh' vowel does not need a narrow tongue. That vocal tract configuration may get you close to eh, but imo not the best one. Just out of curiosity, why do you seek this exercise? Has someone suggested this is the way to make an 'eh'? akarawd
Hi Steven, I was watching Ken Tamplin's DVDs and I would swear that this what he does. I have no idea if this is how it should be done but I'd be interested to know what the benefits are. Thanks, Thanos
gno
Thanos - I'm not sure. With KTVA I'm still working on keeping my tongue flat for the "ah" vowel. For the other vowels I'm just using my ear to tune the vowel in and I'm not paying much attention to the tongue position - although I need to get better at this. akarawd
Thanks Geno, same here. I just believe that the tongue plays a major role in singing, but it's just a guess.
