The ONLY guy I've EVER hear NAIL "Welcome to the jungle"! Amazing!

The GNR song "Welcome to the jungle" is one of the rare songs that I personally would NOT ever try to sing in a cover band unless I thought I did it REALLY good justice. Maybe one day I could do it. But I found a guy on youtube who just blows it out of the park:

The guys with the golden voices ARE out there. Don't stop believing.

Maybe im wrong but i think he totally change the style of it nd jonpall no i dont think his tone is similar to axl.first he doesnt hv any control on his high range he changed the notes or the key watever nd second he doesnt use tht much twang as axl in the song and tempo is slower nd no rasp at all.

Again thts just my opinion i might be wrong nd i dont mean tht one shouldnt sing the songs his or her way but i think he changed it alot.

Big respect to everyone here :)

Hmm, strange. Perhaps I'm just not hearing it correctly. I thought he hit all the high notes with about EXACTLY the same rasp and twang and what not - as Axl did back in the heyday. Could it be that perhaps you have a hard time acknowledging that there ARE indeed a few number of guys who can really pull off that legendary sound of William Axl Rose? No disrespect intended, man.

ayad92,

If it makes you feel any better, many Icelanders believe in elves.

This should have been on Pat Boone's "In a Metal Mood" (which I have, by the way.)

In fact, here's Pat Boone covering "Holy Diver." It's the only song he could not turn into a samba or rhumba. So he kept the classical arrangement. By classical, I mean the time signature is the same, even with different rhythmic accents and some syncopation in the instrumentation. Trivia: the day these vocals were recorded for this song was the birthday of Ronnie James Dio. He knew about the album and came down and sang back-up to his own song. The whoops you here are Dio in the background. Enjoy.

"Holy Diver" as covered by Pat Boone from the album, "In a Metal Mood."

Ok, I just listened to the track again, trying to pick up any nuances between this guy's sound and that of Axl Rose. I used everything I've learned f.ex. from CVT, analyzing his modes, vocal effects, seeing where he tastefully puts in curbing, etc., looking for those tiny differences that might be present.

I could see one spot - MAYBE - in the beginning of the song, where he slides up in pitch and does that legendary insane high scream. There is an ever so slight vocal break there, but it's VERY slight and honestly I don't think people who aren't studying the voice like us would be able to pick that up. Don't you think it's just nitpicking? It IS a very small, subtle detail. And he also may have simply not wanted to sound like the original singer on just a single note in the song! How brilliant is that? Paying homage to the original, yet putting in a little bit of spice from himself.

It may also be the extreme amount of rasp he has going on that's confusing you. Could that be the case? Man, I still have the goosebumps.

Peace!

Now I feel horrible having pulled your leg for so long. You see, the rumors about our elf believes are totally blown out of proportion, but sarcasm and teasing is kind of a national sport. Or it could be just me. LOL. Sorry man, I gotta make it up to you one of these days. :)
