VideoHere
hi folks, did anyone watch last night's episode of "the voice?" they had the first set of "battle rounds." i don't know..after watching it i had an uncomfortable feeling watching really talented vocalists competing against each other like two bad boy wrestlers trying to outdo each other with their voices. i really didn't enjoy it. how did you folks feel? 2 singers, singing the exact same song on stage together at the same time competing for the star who selected them? speaking for myself, something's not right with this. jonpall
Singing is not a competition. There's plenty of room at the top.
anonimuzz
At the very least, they should sing one at a time, instead of doing it together. All the atmosphere of that place is stressful enough, let alone having your competition standing right next to you and doing their best to make you look awful, compared to them. Besides, the fact that they perform together makes them oversing 10x more. I also don't like the concept.
ronws
Well, my opinion, and I know it won't sit well with everyone (tough luck, ya'll), is that not every song is right for every voice, and vice versa. And so, to have to singers compete on the same song show total, stone cold, blithering idiotic ignorance on the part of any "vocal coach" who would engage in such an excretable "competition." But, it's t.v. They absolutely must create drama where it's not necessary or useful. I feel the inspiration to drop a deuce on the creators of that concept. And that's the nicest way I could think of phrasing that.
Validar
I tried watching it, but after 5 minutes I found it unbearable. Perhaps it's a bit superficial of me, but I knew I wasn't going to like it after seeing the cheesy stage, which looked like something out of Battlestar Galactica. ronws
And I would like to re-iterate that anyone who thinks that any voice should be able to sing any song exactly the same way is showing just how stupid they are. And how low "reality tv" producers will reach to provide something "novel." I would like to take all the "drama" of reaity shows and shove it down their collective throats. And that was the "nice" version of my opinion. Sorry about that, ladies and gents.
NCdan
I think a "singing battle" is too tame. They should have to sing and play dodgeball at the same time. Either that or give both of them a weapon of some sort and make them have a singing battle both figuratively and literally.
