VideoHere
folks, if you're like me and love to read about vocal technique, i simply cannot recommend this book enough. it's a tough read at times, and actually i'm glad it was redundant at times but it really helps you understand how the voice is meant to work from an anatomical and physio/psychological perspective. it really drives home basics and why they are requisites for correct phonation, laws if you will, that must be obeyed to sing high notes for example. i'm not even finished, and i am enjoying it so much. highly, highly, recommended. PopVlad
Hey Bob, I've heard great things about that book. Unfortunately, it's not available from where I live ;( I know there's a section on "pharyngeal" voice. Could you comment on that? Thanks, Vlad

Jens
i imported it to sweden for kindo alot of money, and it was highly disappointing... Many of the facts on the bridgeing for the diffrent voice classifications plus noumerous other things in my mind seamed more like fiction then real science. Id choose discover your voice by oren. l brown anyday over this book.

Administrator Robert Lunte Posted May 24, 2011 Administrator Share Posted May 24, 2011 This book was recommended to me by one of my mentors, the late Peter Egan... a famous Estillian, who is responsible for helping me to better understand the significance of vocal twang and really break open my pedagogy in its application to helping my clients sing full in their head voice.... coincidentally, this week's featured member. If you like the principles of this book, you will find a LOT of reference and inspiration from "Voice of the Mind" in my training system, "The Four Pillars of Singing" and teachings. In fact, "Lift Up / Pull Back" was inspired by this book! Although its a little dated in its science as it was published in the 1940s, it is one of the first books that explains formants, vocal modes (before there were officially vocal modes), and the resulting acoustics that come from them. Yes, indeed, there is a lot of "Voice of The Mind" in what I am doing... Great recommendation Bob, its cool how you seek information Bob... keep it up.... (if you allow it to). maybe i'll try and teach some day....lol!!!
Puissance
May I ask who the author of Voice of the Mind is? I'm interested and maybe my local library will have a copy. Thanks.
